ok thanks. Was jus wondering looking at the pics if any one could tell if in fact this is one of the 1gb ddr3 dedicated cards.

Seems a bit mediocre in design which made me unsure.

Ask to throw it in a PC real quick and run GPUZ. Also, if it has the sticker on the back showing model number give that a quick google.

Should clear it up, unless you're getting conned by someone lol.

I managed to zoom into the following picture

and extracted this GV-NX86T512H if you look closely you can make it out.

Any way after doing a google search it came up with this

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/VGA/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2604

following specs:-

1. Powered by GeForce 8600 GT GPU
2. Supports PCI Express
3. Microsoft DirectX 10 and OpenGL 2.0 support
4. Integrated with the industry's best 512MB GDDR2 memory and
128-bit memory interface
5. Supports SLI and PureVideo technology
6. Features dual DVI-I / D-sub (by adapter) / HDTV
7. Supports Dual Dual-link @ high resolution up to dual 2560x1600

i figured its not a 1GB must be 512MB as im sure this kind of model/code would be unique to the card GV-NX86T512H

I don't think a 1 GB 8600GT would be worthwhile. The 8600GT is not a powerful gaming card. If you want something better (such as for gaming) try looking for a new or used 8800GT 512MB.

yeah a 1gb 8600GT is really wasteful imo. I'd go for nothing less than a 8800 GTS or GT. Best bang for the buck (if your heart is set on nvidia) is probably a 9800GTX+ or a GTX 260

8600GT isn't even fast enough to take advantage of 512MB let alone a gig.
