Ok, need some advice here. Looking to upgrade from my basic SB Live! Value card. Can someone explain the difference between the Audigy line and the Live! 5.1 series? Thanks

Ok, maybe I should've worded this a little better:
Which would be the prefered model? SB Live! 5.1's are pretty cheap. Audigies are abit more. Given the choice, is it worth it to get the audigy over the live 5.1 series? I guess I'm looking for users that have expeiernce with either line and their thoughts.
I have a SB Live Value which i like....although my roommate just got the audigy gamer.......and yeah it is nice.... plus we had a deal on them here ........should of gabbed one then
i belive both cards are dual channel 5.1
more than likely it is the marketing thing......cause i saw the audigy MP3 version too..seemed identicle to the gamer version.
i'm probably just full of it, but yes my roomates audigy gamer is a very nice card.....even for MP3's it delvers very good clarity even with some midrange speakers

the card itself is exactly the same, the only thing that is different between the gamer and mp3 is the software that comes with it

Actually, I had posted before that the Live! and Audigy were the same card, which is not entirely true. The Audigy's have 24 bit sound whereas the SB 5.1's only have 16 bit. You'll most liely never even notice the difference between the two unless you have a serious high end home theatre setup connected to your computer.

Another difference is the amount of CPU utilization. With my old Live!, when I was playing MP3's and doing other stuff, occasionally the songs would skip a little when I had the CPU under heavy load with other tasks. With the Audigy, there is almost zero CPU utilization and I no longer have this problem. It also sounds SO much better when connected to my home theater system. :D
