View Full Version : Drive Letters -HELP-
This is one that has me stumped. I just installed Windows XP on a second Hard Drive. The Hard Drive is in perfect working order. However, I noticed that my hard drive was labelled as (F) drive in Windows. I have never seen anything like this. How do I get Windows to recognise my hard drive as my (C) drive? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like a partitioning problem.
How are your drive(s) partitioned?

Right click on My Computer, then on Manage, then on Disk management in there you can get it any letter you want.
I tried that and it says that it cannoit change the drive letter for boot volume. Bottom line is that it will not let you change the Drive Letter of a hard drive. Also it is not a partition problem as I only have one partition on my hard drive. Help
Does FDISK say that the partition is an "extended" partition?
I was forced to reformat and now everything is OK.
