when my cdrw (liteon) reads or writes it locks up to a black screen or just freezes. running win me.
tried using clone and nero and two different cdroms, still crash.
changed ram . i have upgraded my cpu as last one died, but this runs at 266fsb and my mobo runs at 200fsb. could this be the prob??
if so how do i get around it apart from buying new mobo. bloody dear just to
check!!
help appreciated.............tia

OK, we'll need much more info about ur system. what is the CPU ur currently running in type & MHz, what is the motherboard, what are ur temps at full load. is ur CPU overclocked? what is ur core voltage and PSU?
U should make a sig, like mine or anyone elses for that matter that will list all ur hardware so we can help u out more easily.
so far all I can say is check for high temps, if they are over 50C start worry, if they're over 60C then start panicing and look for a better way to cool off ur CPU b4 it burns out!

BTW: Welcome to the forums!

i got a amd athlon 1333 mhz chip unclocked but running it on a jetway aspro633 200fsb the athlon is a 266fsb chip .
riva tnt 2 ultra
256 mbs ram/ had 128 and 512ms seperatly still same
win me
liteon x24 cdrw/generic dvd rom drive both still freezing on either with only one connected.
i've formattted twice fresh installs!! win me and win98
only started since i got this chip(athlon1333) i used to run a 1200 athlon 200 fsb no probs/ no freezing.

its got to be mobo, this 1333 will only run at 1ghz due to fsb differences.................i think i'm gonna get me a new mobo as i can't see them taking the cpu back (artic silvered up). my bloody brother bought it for me under instruction to buy a 200fsb chip. the geezer gave him a damn 266 .

That seems like the best way to go. With mobo prices lower than usually, you shouldn't have a problem finding a good deal.

You need a board that supports a 266 mhz athlons. Your board might have jumpers on it to change it from 100/200 to 133/266. Check it out. If not, the board or the chip has to go:(
