View Full Version : GTX260+ 216, which brand's the best?
hi'
I have finaly saved enough to change my 9800gx2 ...
I've thought that a gtx260+216 would do, but, then which brand to choose?
I have seen a few different ones, so, which one should I go for?
any advice or opinion welcome :)

so far, I found this ;
Gainward Geforce GTX260 1792MB 216 Cores Golden Sample - 1792 MbTV-Out/Dual DVI - PCI Express (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260)
I was just wondering, 1792MB of ram is the exact double of the standard one ...
Have you looked at reviews for the 260? Your gx2 is a great card and beats even the gtx 280 in some benchmarks, although at higher resolutions with AA enabled sometimes the 260 pulls away, but looking at this review I don't think the 260 will really be much of an upgrade.

The review is a bit old, and things may have improved for the gtx 200's with driver updates though.

hi'
I guess that you're right ;)
that's pretty funny, coz someone here told me that even a good gtx280 would just perform as well as a gx2 ... I just wonder, what about ram size?
some say that 512mb is not enough, but the gx2 is an sli card, so still
512 or better than a single card?
I don't have so much for a video card like a gtx295, I chose to upgrade my ram, so got another 2x2gb ocz to have a 100% match, and left the rest to an pentium quad9550, to get a more stable and possibly better performing system.
the upgrade for a video card will wait until I see the next gtx300 coming up ;)
thanks for advice ;)

as far as what company to get, they are all the same cards and each company slaps on there own stickers. so go with the one with good customer service, warranty and RMA support. evga comes to mind, BFG if you aren't going to mod it at all.

+1...keep your GX2, it's an awesome card

hi'
yop!, that's decided ;)
as far as I can see, I have no interest in changing card unless the card could provide a real better overall preformance, which is not the case of any gtx260, might be a gtx285 or a gtx295, but money doesn't allow such a setup ;)
so, I keep my gx2, change my old q6600 for a q9550, and change the second pair of ram I have for the same I already have , I'll have 4x2gb of ocz platinium, surely more stable than 2x2gb + 2x1gb even of the same brand and specifications.
and for card, as I said, I'll wait a good time to for a gtx300 when available, and surely a coreI7 ...
I have time to think about ;)
