[Solved] Mobo underclocking RAM

I have DDR3-1333 RAM. However I noticed that when my BIOS posts, it states that the RAM is running at 1066. Any ideas on why the mobo would choose to run the RAM at this lesser speed?

Updated the BIOS and this is no longer an issue

hi there, i have the same trouble with my MSI X58M if i can't find any other solution, you think try to update bios is the better choice?

Yes, the motherboard isn't recognizing the chips correctly. You can update bios to get it to autodetect hopefully, or manually set it according to your memory specifications.

RAM is set by EEPROM on RAM chip providing JEDEC SPD's to Motherboard Bios, but generally SPD's set safe POST level, not max rated speed/timings. This Mushkin post explains it:
