I built a box for a friend over the weekend. I used a Epox 8T7A, 256 megs PC2100 Ram, 40 gig drive, Modem Blaster from Creative, and a Radeon 7500.

I set up users for everyone in thier household. I let the box burn in for almost 3 days, running 3dmark 2001 in a loop over nights, running prime95 and playing some games along with internet browsing and didn't have a single problem, no crashes, no lock ups nothing.

However, as soon as I hooked up the box for them, it locked up when switching users a couple times. Basically either I got a black screen, or just the desktop picture with no start bar or icons. After leaving it for a few minutes its still locked, and I have to do a manual shutdown as ALT-CTL-DEL dosn't work.

Any suggestions? They are not on a broadband connection.

You can try disabling the secondary logon service, if you're not using it.

Are they doing fast switch? If they are, the other users are still logged on and using tons of memory. I left mine w/ just 2 people for a couple hours it when upwards of 300MB. Make sure everyone logs out completely.
