I just recently installed a program called System Information Viewer. It tells me that right my current temp is 23C. But when I go to the bios it tells me that my temp is 35C. That is a huge difference, and that is also from a cold boot. I would just like to know everybodies opnion on which one to trust. I am leaning more towards the bios for it is actual hardware and not software. My motherboard is a Gigabyte one that has an onboard temp reader that is directly underneath the cpu. I want to know which one is real.

Thanks alot to everyone who responds in advance.

Temperature programs usually show 2-3 temperatures.

23 is probably your case temperature and 35 in the bios is a CPU Temperature.

Go download Motherboard Monitor then setup the the the sensors save config and it'll show all the temperatures.

there is only one temp reading and that is for the cpu. but the bios does have 2 temps. the temp reading for the cpu is 35C and the case temp as 21C. so what your saying yodums is that programs give or take 2-3c?? which one do you think is real.

will the motherboard monito work for all mobos??

There are more than two sensors on your board one for the motherboard/case and one for the cpu.

Right now that program is monitoring your case temperature which you really don't have to worry about.

Motherboard Monitor is deisigned to work with all motherboards and monitor your CPU temps etc all your sensors.

Download it from Here (http://www.aoafiles.com/) Its in CPUApps and the first file after the directories

I downloaded the program and it is the same as my System Information Viewer. So does that mean that the programs are right and my bios is just way off. It seems very strange for the hardware monitor to be wrong. Still worried...oh well thnx for the responses.

When you are getting those temp readings in the OS, are you running anything or is the system pretty much idle?

When you are in the system's BIOS, the CPU is not really idle. It's actually got a pretty good load on it since it's not being sent an idle thread as it is when the OS is loaded.

I would doubt that your bios is wrong, but programs like MBM are supposed to just read what the sensors are reading, same sensors that bios reads from. There are differences sometimes though. I would guess that you have MBM set up with the wrong sensors, you probably have the system temp displaying in the CPU temp box. You might have to hunt around, but you'll find the correct sensor for CPU temp in MBM.
