I'm building a system for my gf and picked the Asus A7N266-E. I'm an intel overclocker and this is the first journey into the amd zone. If you have this board or were getting it what cpu would you pick? She's a college chic so it won't see much gaming except when I'm there :) . It would be nice to do some overclocking but not necessary. Ok folks what can you tell a amd newbie. (no watercooling, peltiers, 8000rpm fans) I'm planning on getting the whole shebang from mwave so case suggestions too please. I'm still sitting on a enlight 7237 at home but I want to get her a "girly" case ya know?

well if dont have that board but to be blunt there wiunt be mch oc'ing without a 7.200 rpm fan or watercooling.
but the best cpu would be subjective to your budget and needs. I would say a 1600+ would be fine for most anything.
i personally think mwaves prices suck... i would buy from newegg were i u.
as far as a case goes ive never see a case that was particularly girlish...

Thanks, a 1600+ what? Duron, Athlon? Newegg doesn't carry the asus board but the msi board they have is indeed cheaper.

For overclockable cooling without the noise you can get a Glaciator. www.millennium-thermal.com
You can also check the front page for a ranking of hsfs. :)
Cheers!

Two cents:
You made the right choice and your gf will love you for it.
Why? Cause Dell sucks. :burn:
