Any thing to watch out for in a XFX HD4870 512MB version.

Is 512mb enough for modern games?

I don't usually game but since I'm getting a new comp, i might as well pickup some new game titles too to try out.

What resolution do you run at
what are your specs

512 is fine for 1680x1050 or less (I've been running it for a while on my older card til i upgraded), but generally 1gb won't make that much of a difference... Depending of course on your res. Like Dapman said, what res? and what are the rest of your system specs.

Personally I'd say just grab a 1GB version now, and be done with it! I did, and its great =).

512 is fine for lower resolutions but if your going to be gaming at 1950x1080 the 1gb is highly recommended....

at 1400*900 the 4870 512mb laughs at everything I play Dawn of war 2, Empire total war, Officers etc and thats all on max settings full AA, SSAO, depth of field etc!

damn. I'm running 1920*1200 right now and have been considering going 30". I guess I'll have to go for the 1GB models then.

at that res you definitely need a 1gb no doubt
