Remote control power switch!!

Hehhe, i found this IR Reciver kit at a local store, and it was only $5, so what the hey.

I soldered it together and tried it out tonight: It runs off of a 7v-12v rail, and has external controls!

I'm probly gonna wire it up so i can remotely turn on my comp, since i can't really think of anything better to do with it :p

Anyone got any better ideas? the reciver is about 3 X 1 X 1 inches, power supply can be up to 2 feet away from the reciver, and the thing it's switching can be as far away as need be.

yeah thats a cool idea. Heard of people doing it and working fine. they can control winamp, and there dvd and other apps too!

Thats where we talked bout it.
Theres a link in there that goes to a place called heatseekers or something like that. I like that one. It gives you some software to use the reciever that you build.
