View Full Version : which card would you get??
I'm trying to finish up my new system in my sig and I need a videocard. Don't do alot of gaming but want the potential to play games a decent resolutions. Was looking at these cards: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150337 (double lifetime warranty -missed out on the $20 MIR), http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131140 -only $20 more, buy doesn't come with the double lifetime warranty like the XFX card, or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125258 -silent cooling but would probably put a fan on it.

Between your choice, for the sake of being able to play any and all games now and to come, grab the HD4870 1GB and be done with it. that said, what res are you running it at? Anything above 1680x1050 get the HD4870, if its that or lower, the HD4850 is sufficient... But I'd personally get the HD4870.
I've read different reviews about the sapphire dual slot cooler, as mentioned by quailane. Some say its decent, others say its a pile of crap, and gets hotter than most reference cards! >< Who knows ay lol
Yea, the sapphire seems like a cheaper card-even though the price is right(thru today only), Will probably go with the XFX just because of the great warranty. will probably be running at 1280x1024. and it looks like the xfx card blows the hot ait out of the back of the case...

good choice! 4850 is a great buy. i can pretty much max out any game except Crysis and some other dodgy titles which don't optimise as well (eg. NFS Undercover).
get the 4870 man
if you have the extra dosh though, get a 4870. you won't be hanging at 90c load and you will get better overclocks, as ATi used all the good chips on the 4870.

get the 4870 and be done with it, its only $15 more than the XFX 4850 and cheaper than the gigabyte, not to mention better performance :p
