I bought a Seagate 7200.11 1TB drive about 2 months ago and only finally started to use it. Something odd I noticed though is that when it spins up, I get 4 clicks before its ready to use. Im not familiar with these drives but i know that seagate isn't doing very well right now. Do i need to rma this drive?

Exactly what my drives did when they arrived, two were DOA (the ones that clicked on startup). Back up your data now.

No but I got a detailed smart report and it showed no problems. Sounds like thideras had the same issue though, luckily there is nothing important on it. Thanks guys!

I'd also like to note that mine also showed clean SMART reports. I've had a total of 4 our of the 7 drives fail, none gave SMART error before dying. They are now in my server as temporary storage.
