I got the my cover off and the CAK-2 38 with artic silver 2 and its running idle at 48C.This seems to hot.Are these figuares normal for this type of setup.i applied the compound like it said to @ articsilver.com and also read the intructions carefully for the heat sink installation.I still have time to exchange the mobo/processor.If u can help me by saying what i can do different or to just to get it exchanged and see. Thanks
You might want to reset it again. As for the AS goes, just put a very thin layer on the chip. If you take your HS off, you should be able to read the stepping code.

That does appear pretty hot for an idle CPU of your type, I have the same chip that idles at around 36-38* C with a Millenium Glaciator and AS.
What are you ambient and Case temps? What kind of case cooling do you have? If you only have 1 fan or none, then your chip fan is just recycling hot air in the case and will not cool effectively.

What's your load temp? That's really much more helpful because your idle temp can vary quite a bit over time and depending on what you have running and a few other things. When you load it up, it might actually not change much.
what the vcore of you
and try too change the diffrent mobo
look how the temps???
