i bought a window kit from coolerguys.com , the clearview kit i think it's called. anyhow, you cut the opening to a size a bit smaller than the window itself, then drill holes for the mounting screws, place the window inside or out, either way, i like outside so it sends light from my cathodes out the edges of the pane, then put the trim pieces it comes with around the window and put the screws through the window, trim, case panel, and nuts on the opposite side, and voila, instant window without worrying about straight line cuts because of the trim. prolly the best window i've ever used and looks very nice installed, here's some pics:
www.homestead.com/new2it1/sigpics.html
other window kits call for you to cut the window to pretty intolerable standards and use a channel type gasket to fit the window into place inside the hole, these seem to pop out sometimes if you bump them as well as when the side is removed and placed somewhere. yet more call for you to cut it a bit bigger and use a bracket setup which works ok, but you can't miss much on the cut. i guess your window will depend on what size/shape you want it to be.
After you cut your window hole you can get door edge guard to cover up the cut edge it comes in chrome or black and has an adhesive that helps hold it on. For attaching the window you can use auto body side mldg. tape, also called double back sticky tape .All of these can be purchased at autobody supply stores,Wallmart,Kmart and such. If you want to make it permanent you could get some Urethane (used for auto glass)
or Butyl tape from a glass shop or Autobody supplier.
Good luck.

thanks and yes it does look nice, very nice, i like all the pipes and how they just seem to glow, good color choice too
well now, i have another question could i buy any of this at the local hardware store, the plexiglass (is that what it actually is) do they sell the little plastice rails on the side at a hardware store or will i have to buy them online at like www.pcmods.com ?
oh and any links or pics would help, god i love pics, again if i do this all right then my case will look rather sharp.
thinking a abstract (of sorts, flames as the sides of the star) pentagram or a satanic face.
oh yea ive got a whole bunch of friends interested in this too.
its addictive

most all of that you can find at HomeDepot, my window isn't actually plexiglass, it's Lexan, but basically the same thing, but lexan is a bit more resistant to cracking/scratching, etc. the molding will be the toughest one to find, but they should have it, and if they don't have the plastic kind, use wood or metal and paint it, it'll work just the same. the mitred (45 degree angles at edges) ends will be a good challenge to get fitted just right, unless you decide to butt(putting one end against the other) them together. either way will work, mitres look a bit sharper though. some hardware stores will even cut the case panel for you using their stuff, check the lumber dept for this. I'd recommend you have them cut the plexiglass if you don't have a nice cutting tool, as they have very good stuff obviously, just make the measurement of the size you want and give it to them, or take the side panel with you and have them lay it out for you, usually if they're not real busy they'll help you a lot (especially the older guys, they love that shisnit!) take it later in the afternoon when they're not swamped with business, or early in the morning when they're slow also, you'll get more/better help that way.

sweet, im thinkin of the same thing also, got a couple buds that work at the depot gonna see if they can hook me up. would glass be a bad idea or shall i go the plexi glass way? dont the windows from coolcasemods.com already come w/ molding?

looks like the window kits at that site do come with the molding stuff, the rubber channel stuff i told you about before.
glass wouldn't be a great idea i don't think, unless you were doing it my way with bolts and nuts, if the glass were to fall out of the channel, yikes! I'd go with plexiglass myself, much easier to work with and you can fudge a little here and there, glass is a lot less forgiving.

I did my window without a Kit, and it turned out really nice. I just used my Dremel to cut a hole, then cut out a piece of plexi slightly larger that the hole. I used JB Weld(epoxy) to glue the plexi to the back of the case cover. That way the window is completely custom.

I dunno if you've started cutting yet, but everywhere I go People say that they are having difficulty with it. I easily cut my case and plexiglass with a $50 Dremel from the Depot. It is a worth-while investment, it makes things real easy.
Just make sure you get the fiber-reinforced cut-off wheels, the non-reinforced ones will just break apart against sheet metal.
This Pic shows use of the Dremel, but it also shows how I glued the other piece of plexi in to place. Doesn't look beautiful on the inside of the cover, but with a window, whose gonna take your cover off any way?
well i just got an antec sx1030b and it has a 1mm thick side, will the dremel work for that. and if i was going to try really really hard and possibly put this guy on it, well do you think that i could get that much precision in the cuts. i had planned on the outline then get some of that frosting or whatever stuff to do the outlines and color in the "lad lad donuts" on the donuts with their appropriate colors. and if i dont do that itll be a pentagram. you know something cool.

nohoy, if youwant it to look extra sweet, you might consider sending the sidepanel off to be laser cut or possibly put a window mod in there and make it an etched design, both can be accomplished through www.designcomp.com and they do an excellent job. you just send them the design and the side panel, they'll send it back to you modded and professional looking, well, cuz it's done by professionals! anyhow, if you want intricate designs done, lasercutting is definitely the way to go. you could get them to cut the design into the side, then buy plexiglass and colors for saran wrap, cut the plexi into the shapes for the letters, wrap with appropriate color saran wrap, then glue into place. another option would be the etching, they can get the design etched onto a window and send you that window, you can install the window like any other window you'd make, then you could even color in the etching using dry erase markers which are translucent and light from inside the case will show it off. (hint on that mod: after coloring w/ the markers, spray lightly with acrylic lacquer (non yellowing lacquer) or cover it with saran wrap tightly to prevent rubbing of the colorings, but you can always repair them later anyhow.

I imagine if you buy the diamond cutting bit, you could do it, It would take some serious practice though. Sharp turns take some mad wicked skillz. Try it on scrap metal first.
thank you for the links FrozenInHI. i had no idea that this was available. and its all a lot of useful stuff too. :D thanks again.
i better thouroughly look at that site now.
