As many of you with Vista and one of these sound cards know, the creative drivers didn't include eax drivers with their pack. Daniel pointed this out and found that the audigy cards were capable of near X-Fi quality with his drivers.

I recently upgraded from Windows XP where my Audigy 4 performed really well on my 4 year old speakers, and then to my disappointment found that the creative drivers stole alot of my quality. My speakers muffled together, my booster might as well have been dead, and games sounded like crap in my 2.1 setup. I then found Daniels mod and it got me back up and running.

Now I am about to dip my feet into windows 7, possibly to dual boot, but I don't want my Daniel_K drivers to leave me again. Anyone know of a simple fix to get these drivers to work with Windows 7?

Thanks.

Any word from Creative if they are going to even write drivers for this card for Win7? IF they do, you might want to try them to see if they include all the features.

IIRC when windows 7 rc first showed up he made a new pack. Just google Daniel K windows 7 and it should be easy to find

Yeh, I looked it up, but it says it doesn't support cmss for 2.1 setups, which leads to believe it is gonna sound like crap :(. I don't understand how creative can still sell a product and not provide proper support for the product. I understand not providing support for a product that is no longer made, but if they make it, they should give the full product.

Right there with ya' bud.

To be blunt though, you're fighting a losing battle. I am not saying you should buy into creative more, like I did, but if you play games and buy a sound card to enrich the experience and/or improve performance there's simply no other brand to buy. The rest are all imitators and are lacking one feature or another. They've got the market cornered, more or less.

I can tell you, the X-Fi titaniums perform great in Vista/7, and in fact, I've used my A2ZS in XP earlier today and it sounds nothing like my X-FI. It's worth upgrading just for the quality difference.

Pretty much: there's no work around. I tried, I tried again, I fought with it day in and day out... and finally bought my X-Fi titanium. Now I smile all day long because it's one less thing I have to fight with when all I really want to do is sit down and play a game. :)
