Hi all,

I'm thinking of upgrading my video card due to recently upgrading my monitor, my pc as of now

e6400 @3.0 ghz
ASUS P5Q
4GB XMS2 800 ram
HD4850 512mb
Corsair TX750
1920 x 1080 res
Win 7 x86 RC

Would it be worth upgrading to a HD4890 or HD4870X2 (if i can afford it)
with the 5 series around the corner would it be wise to wait?
I use my system for gaming mainly: GRID, COD 4/5, Far cry 2, Left 4 dead.

Would my current CPU bottleneck a HD4870X2 at all?

thanks guys :)

Don't get an HD 4870X2. They are WAY too expensive for what they are. An HD 4890 is an excellent card for the sub $200 they are going for today. Your CPU will be the weakest link, but I have a 2.8Ghz Celeron as well as a 4850 and 4890 and I can tell you there was a big jump going to the 4890.

4890 all the way and worth it. You're going to be waiting until October and maybe even November (for nice availability) for the 5x series.

I think an OCd 4850 can still handle those games in 1080... I would just wait for the 5xxx

4890 is a waste of cash compared to both the 4870 1GB version, and the 4850X2.
