first 4890 installed

Welp, got the 4890 installed today. Thing is a beast. I cannot believe how loud the fan is at 100%. it must be twice as loud as the gtx.

Stock clock speed scores were not that impressive. About 1000 points lower in 3dm06 than my OC'd gtx260 but once I cranked the clocks up a little, the thing screams. Im about to break the 20k mark with a single GPU!

Now I just have to decide which card to get for my second one. Im thinking the XFX XT version. The egg has it for $194 after rebate right now with a free copy of hawx

Nice! I might just get 2 of them for some hawt crossfire action ;) I'll bet with my new X58 setup they'll rock! I went crossfire and now I don't want anything else.

Yea man these things are beasts. The fan is like a vacuum cleaner at 100% but ive never seen it reach 100% without me turning it to it to show ppl how loud it can get lol.

Really its been astoundingly quiet in the most demanding games. I'm really happy with its temperatures and performance, and at stock I was almost hitting 19k in 3dmark06 with it But for get 3dmark, it rips games apart no problem. :beer: Talk about getting what you paid for. I always dream about getting 4x Crossfire. One day. Maybe.

wont be breaking 20k on a single GPU : ( unless I can get another 50mhz out of the GPU or 100MHZ out of my CPU.

How do my Crysis benchmarks look? I have a second 4890 on the way, went with the XFX XT version.

You'll be able to break 30K in 3DM06 in all likelyhood. I'm only 2.5K of that mark with my 4870 512's and an i7 920 OC'd to 4.2GHz.

Yeah, the stock fans on these things are like crazy loud on high, even turned down a bit.

Was next thing I've in the works, have one of those Artic Cooling Accelero units on the way for my HD4870x2.

oc your cpu more bump up that vcore and see if its stable enough to run 3dmark ull be able to break 20...

Here are some more benchmarks, had a decent night. broke 22k in 06 and 16k in vantage.
still wish crysis ran better though.

Good stuff :) wondered how those 4890's were really hadnt delved into it much I'll be sticking where Im at awhile I guess :)

Yeesh, one of those things almost as fast as my 4870x2.
