I just pick up a new s/c, cpu and mb and now it seem that I don't need the auido cable to listen to my music cd's(have no cd volume control though). Is this because of the s/c or the new MB. I have a aopen 5.1 s/c and a kt133a chipset mb. This works on both my dvdrom and cdburner. thanks.

are you using the Motherboard sound card?

Even if he was using the motherboard sound, he would still have to run the CDaudio cables from his CD drives to the mobo. So are you telling us that all you have plugged into your CD drives are the IDE cable and the power cable?? If so i would fear your board cuz it seems to be possessed!! :)

take out your cd-rom and check if you can still listen to audio cd's :D

Are you using Windows Media Player by chance?

I have heard that it can play then using the digital data on the disc, and so not needing the audio cable.

If you are using media player, can you try it with a different cd player and see what happens. :D
