Just got my Abit ST-6 non raid board in the mail !!!
Tossed my Tualatin 1.2 celeron in...

The only problem I’m having now is a weird issue with my Promise Ultra ATA 100 PCI controller card. When I try to boot up, sometimes the card comes up saying [/] detecting drives.. sometimes it comes up with just a blinking cursor _ . and sometimes it detects the two cd drives just fine and boots right up. I have my Acer CDR and my Creative DVD drives to connect to it.

My current configuration with the two cd drives is to have each one set as master with the jumper and put them on separate cables on their own separate bus.

What i've discovered is that no matter how I connect the drives together. either as master slave on one bus..or master master on their own separate bus. or even cable select with the same two cinereous.

What i've been narrow it down to even more is If I disconnect the DVD drive. I boot up every time. Is this an issue with my DVD player or my ATA100 card ?

The DVD is fairly new (year old) and was working just fine on the ATA100 card in my last setup. It was connected along with a 80gb Western digital drive and my CDR drive.

I'm clueless....this worked before...now it's not working on my new mother board. Any help is appreciated. Thanks :)

I would connect the CDR and DVD to the IDE connectors on your board, and the HD to your ATA100 card.
