Decided I would take the risk and get the 1.5TB Seagate 7200.11. The firmware updates have been out a while now and I have not heard any complaints recently.

I figure it has a 5 year warranty too...picked it up for 119 clams.

Got 2.6TB space now. I can finish off backing up all my DVD's now that I have the space. It will be a PIA if this thing dies any time soon, but I think it should be okay :attn:

What model of the Silverstone case do you have? Mines in my sig for my HTPC and dang can mine get cramped quick hehe.

I have similar HDD space as you do as well, except that using a 1TB drive for strictly backups right now.

Just curious, what method do you use to back them up? I'm doing it somewhat cumbersome, using DVDShrink to re-author (but not compress) to a series of 3_1.VOB type files, then manually renaming them by series and season. It sucks.

if you want a 100% quality DVD back up, just use AnyDVD, rip the video_ts folder, that's it. (that's what I do on my DVDs)

I.. Well, I won't comment. I'm gonna throw up a howto thread, now that I've actually figured it all out. What a big pain in the butt it is. Stupid DMCA.
