View Full Version : Do these temperatures sound right for a GTX 260 216?

In HL2 ep2 the max I can get the temps to go is 56 degrees at 40% fan speed. With 55% fan speed (audible level) it goes down to 54 degrees.

When playing a game like GTA IV or Crysis it hits temps at about 64-67 degrees under 40% fan speed and down to 58-64 at 55%.
At idle the temps are about 40-46 degrees.

Are these normal temps? or is this running to hot? My last graphics card ran at about 50 under full load so these seem pretty high...

Thanks in advanced

Dave.

Those temps are well in range of where they should be. :)

If you need some reassurance...

Doesn't sound hot to me, but then again I'm used to my 8800GTX which runs in the mid 70s (with 80C spikes) with 100% fan while playing Crysis (1920x1200 & "Very High" settings).

Woah so my temps are quite a way off what they should? (much lower that is)
Do you know if the tests are done with 100% fan speed?

Thanks for the (very) quick replies =)

Dave.

I think they should do tests at 70% fan speed, half-way between stock (40%) and 100%. This is because I'm sure the testers know most people don't like running their fans 100% due to noise...

I don't think there is a way to know the fan speed unless it's listed. Maybe some people with GTX 260 c216s will reply with their temps for comparison.

ull be fine your card is far from overheating... worry about it when your at 90-100c :p

My GTX260-216 runs at about 49-59C[@45% FAN] Load on source based games at 1680x1050 all maxxed.

Crysis is the only game that requires an increase in fan speed to play because it's the only game that can really tax my card. (68C [@75% FAN])

Granted this is on a bit overclock, but on a nice ambient temp.

So basically your right on target, picture perfect :)

That's fine temps... running Crysis with all eye candy turned on with fan at 100% I can get to 78C. Today I got to 82C in arma 2. So I need to put a fan, like the ones you use to refresh, pointing at the inside of the PC. Where I live the ambient temp is always above 21C, can reach 35C in daytime. And if I don't put that fan, the games would start throwing all sort of artifacts after some game time, that's when you know your card is getting crispy.

The official temp threshold from Nvidia is 105c. My GTX260 overclocked runs at around 80c under full load. The fan will go to around 60% at higher temps, to go higher you will have to use a program such as Precision.

thats really good.... thats about what my gtx260 did on the stock cooler.

BUT word of advice... DONT TAKE THE STOCK COOLER OFF thinking your going to remount with good thermal paste... it is impossible to get the paste do spread right on such a large ihs, and then ur temps will be screwed.

I actually did that and reapplied with Artic Silver 5, temps actually went down after the burn in period.
