View Full Version : GPU WU shortage?
I'm just curious if anyone else isn't getting any GPU work? I think it's been about 2 1/2 days for me now.
Ugh now I'm thinking of all my lost points :(
I have GPU selected in my prefs on the website and the local ones, I'm not sure where I've gone wrong.

Were you getting CUDA units before?
Did you have any error messages when you started BOINC ...?

Both of my quads are out of GPU units. My Q6600 downloaded some and ripped them apart but my GTXs have been empty for days. Manual updates aren't helping.

I've been doing only MB for days now. I haven't seen any AP for a while. MB don't last long at all with my GPU and a few times I did get error message about no new work available for me.
My average credit has dropped from about 2800 a day to 2200 a day.
I'm getting no error messages except the "no work available" sort. I just questioned it because I hadn't seen any other complaints.
Last I recall seeing any is probably 2 1/2 days ago. Ive reset all my preferences, and manually forced a connection but still no work.
I have 2x 285 gtx's and a 8800 gtx sitting lonely.
I have been out of cuda wu's also. It seems that with the traffic at Seti and the bandwidth used up I have WU's to be uploaded and my cuda box will not request any work as long as there are WU's to be uploaded.
I get about 20-40 WU's and when those dont upload then I am out till those upload before I receive any more since my box dont report but about twice a day.

Still have cuda's here. I'll note I don't weed out VLA units...
I finally have some trickling in now! Maybe my points can start on the upswing again

download the program reschedule 1.8 from lunatics forum.
it allows you to convert mb work units to cuda's on the fly. also allows cuda to be converted to mb's on the fly.
also detects vlar's and converts ALL vlars to mb for the cpu to crunch.
its a great little program.

Maybe I have don't have the right WUs because that program is not rescheduling any to my GPUs yet.
I tried it and it converted some, but then my whole cache dissapeared. ..next thing to figure out lol.

its in its beta stages, and does not come with the right options for vista and 7. you have to point the program to the app and data directory for it to work.
but it works fine for me in windows 7. except now i am out of wu for cpu and gpu. too bad reschedule cant fix that.

I've been out of APs for a while, now I have been unable to get MB units for the cpu or gpu for almost a week. Hopefully they fix this soon, my farm will go empty in about 24-48 hours
I'll get a batch of CUDA WU's, but the upload servers prevent me from getting anymore. My 285's and 260's burn through them pretty fast. Boinc won't download any CUDA units if there are some that are stuck trying to upload. It seems like the upload servers are always messed up, so I wind up going for a period of time not doing CUDA WU's while I'm waiting for them to upload. Then it will download a few and repeat the process.
I've had a fair bit of luck the last few days, been crunching on them pretty steady for them most part.

I've managed to get ONE AP to chew on this week but otherwise it's all MB for my GPU and CPU.
I'd swear seti@home is running out of data to process.

I didn't post it in this thread but they are running out of AP units to process. As I understand it a card in their collection computer down at Arecibo didn't like the last software upgrade - though there shouldn't have been a problem. The company that built the card is working on it but it's a very old piece of equipment.
Since AP units are so much bigger (and, as we all know, take a LOT longer to process) the Berkeley comm lines have been flooded because of the short turn-around MB's ...
I've had a handful on my one laptop but that's about it for the AP's
