You mean using the same Steam account? If so thats not possible only one account can be logged in at a time.

i think its because they have the same IP, i know with cod4 2 identical IPs caused problems with punkbuster, but TF2 is steam so idk.
i'm not sure what the work around for this would be

Nah.....In my house there are three computers (Each with their own steam accounts) and all of them play TF2 just fine, even on the same server.

give me a break im not that F-ing dumb. Its not the same account. When im playing then he jumps on it kicks me out of a server.
Just like COD4. you have to change something.
Are you using a hub to connect the two computers?
Only way I could see that happening is if your using the same Steam account...I just had my little brothers over, me and my wife all playing TF2, then 2 friends came over to LAN so we had 7 people on separate steam accounts from the same IP on one server just fine.
Come on guys, he says he's not using the same steam account so lets try to help him instead of repeating useless information.
I did some quick googling and this worked for one person. It might be worth trying. Add this to the shortcut target line on one computer "+clientport 27021" and this to the other one "+clientport 27022". Maybe that will help. I think it has something to do with your router not handling mutiple connections over the same port.
If that doesn't work for you, could you post your router information for us? Some of the networking experts might be able offer better help with that info.

yeah, perhaps the router is not smart enough to put each of you on different ports for the TF2 server, so it boots you.
What make/model of router are you using?

does it happen on all servers?
some servers could have IP filters to not allow more then one connection to stop cheaters... (having 2 systems one player on each team kind of thing)

He is calm! Those are just the muttonchops talking... ;)
I agree with the assessment that it's got nothing to do with the game (or whatever the hell the "change something" he's talking about) and everything to do with his router.
My guess is it's taking a particularly STUPID route towards handling the IP addresses.
Changing the routing table would fix that. (And a myriad of other problems he probably didn't even know he had... wouldn't help with the muttonchops though.)

If you gave more info in the first place we could have ruled that part out.

Bingo was his name-o.
I'd give both PCs a static IP address. and see if that helps. Steam tends to behave like punkbuster.

Long as you bring over all the ingredients. I'll even let you watch me eat! :)
