This question i would rather ask here only because it is for seti purposes. I'm finishing another computer (P4 1.7) with spare parts i RMAed as you see in my right side sig. Ok now this system (P4 1.7) i would like to boot from my original (P4 1.8) through a network with only seti installed on the new system and no operating system. Is this possible? I would like to run Seti on it 24/7.

I doubt its possible as Seti will need a client version but since you have no operating system I don't know if command line version would work or not or if you have to associate it with another file like here it is being associated with SetiDriver.

And how would you retrieve WU's and upload them?

I would like to run everything from my primary computer and thought the other one would only be an addon of type to the primary. My NIC at boot asks if i want to boot from network thats what made me wonder.

nope you still need an OS of some type....the Wake on Lan feature of your NIC card is generally for remote admin or PC anywhere type of stuff

You can run Seti through a network no problem. Once the machine is running windows, you can run the client on it without it being installed. But you have to be in windows. What you have to do however is setup a server. You can do this on your one P4. Make a separte folder called Seti1 or Seti Server...but something different. Put the CLC, Seti Driver, and Seti Spy in this folder. Then through your network go to this folder from the client machine. Just double click on it and it will pop up and start running...you will have to configure of coarse. There is no performance loss, at least not on my systems, because my server is a separte machine from my main one. My server is as follows:

Pentium 120MHz (Classic)
32MB of 72Pin EDO
8Gb Hard Drive ATA66

It has ten Seti Clients running on it 24/7 along with various users dling MP3's and such off of it. I suggest you could do it that way. If someone has a better idea please ignore me. I just prefer my server method.

As you mentioned he can pick up a crappy old P2 233 MMX or something with resonable ram and make it run Windows 2000 Server hook it up and you can hook up the system your assembling now to be proxied to the main internet computer.
