Which sound option should I use,my X-Fi XtremeMusic pci or the onboard sound on my GA-EX58-UD5?I am running Vista 64-Bit which seems negate all the benefits as it seems X-fi driver support is lacking at best. I found the X-Fi was good but I wonder if the motherboard onboard would be better.I listen to a fair amount of music and gaming but I only have a 2.1 setup.Any opinions welcome and appreciated

i've always heard with mix reasons that using a sound card would be better than using on-board. I have the same speakers as you have and a good friend of mine uses the same card as yours, i personally would go with the card, drivers shouldn't be an issue, my audigy 2zs worked fine with my vista x64 ultimate :)

Definitely go with the card. Creative is the best!!! I had my Surround System for 3 years, and only after I got X-Fi Platinum I started hearing things I never heard before in games and music that I always listened.

Creative is decent, but they're by far not the best.

Your probably right, I actually was very ****ed at Creative at first, I mean it's so obvious how they'll do anything to keep making big bucks. Is it true that they made a deal with Microsoft so Vista would be uncompilable for surround sound unless you had Creative sound card? Because when I got Vista, I couldn't get my surround system to work until I got this X-Fi Titanium, which is soooooo cool, but cost me $150. Still it's worth it, and the things I can do with audio now, oh it unbelievable :attn:

About anything better than most onboard sound that I've usually heard.

I like the Auzentech for the X-Fi's personally, is a creative chip I guess but haven't used a CL card here in a long time myself personally.

Creative's quality has declined quite a lot lately. They used to be the only consumer-card maker on the market, but now they're outperformed even by their own chips on the Auzentech cards.

I am not impressed with Creative, yes there sound card (audigy se) has served me well for a couple of years!

But there support site is terrible, and I wont forgive them for my Inspire 6700 6.1 speakers going faulty, I just needed a new remote, but the model was discontinued, so they basically wouldnt talk to me at all. I am pretty sure they could have advised something!

Anyway I love my music, so they hit a nerve there! p.s no one got one by chance?
