Should I wait or buy now?

I have a bum XP1600 that won't OC any faster than 1578 (143x11). Should I just sit on it and wait for the new .13 core AMD chips or buy a XP1800 now that the prices are down ($141)? I'm not going to spend more than about $150 so would it be pointless to wait if those new chips are just going to be expencive?

Usually, the answer to upgrade questions is: it doesn't matter what you buy, it'll be obsolete in six months. Or three months.

AFAIK, wait until the 27th of Jan, 'cause both AMD's and Chipzilla's CPU's are going to cost less. Supposedly, at any rate.

You mean they're droppin more. I really picked a bad time to buy (and fry) my 1700. Oh well. IMHO, id wait for the new .13's to come out, they might drive down the 1900 or 2000 into your price range.

and actually that isnt bad for a 1600+ mines only 100% stable at 1500mhz with air cooling i can do 1600mhz but isnt what id call stable.
im waiting for the 2000+ to hit $200 then i grabben one and i figure about the time i get done playen with that the new thorobreds will be out and the prices will be droppen on the bottom end of the line.
so im adding watercooling untill the 2000+ price drops and when its at that price ill snag it and really toast some stuff.

The XP 2000 has dropped by about 75 in a week and a half. My suppliers say that there will be a significant drop in AMD by the end of Jan. I would wait and see. I have an XP 1700 the will only run at 1600 mhz. and I want more but I will wait to save a few bucks and get the 2000 at 200 bucks or so. I agree with deathstar.... Im rigging up a water and fridge cooling system with my money now and waiting for the big ......

I would say wait for the .13 micron it will have all the XP goodness and will run a bit cooler.
