I can't stand it! At least Windows 98 would let you press any key and was lucky to save any work you had...This one counts all the way to 100 then restarts the computer..

Sorry about the flash...I forgot to turn it off and by the time I took this picture the computer restarted..Thats why theirs that thick line at the top of the screen..

That's . . . um . . . annoying. But that's the reason I run Windows 2000. No pesky BSOD's for me! :D

From what I have seen on various boards that error seems to occur alot with incompatible sound card drivers, try checking the Event Viewer to see if it gives you any other ideas of what is causing a conflict. I have seen some people say that uninstalling and then reinstalling cards cleared up the problem.

You know I think your right about that..My sound card was fine with the Home Version..But the Pro version is causeing havoc on my Hec. FossimoI II card...I'm thinking about geting a Sound Blaster augidty anyway.. I need it for my Yamaha Keyboard..

oh I forgot to say It has to be the sound card because it makes weird sounds it shutters alot..and When I first did a fresh install of Win XP Home and installed Sim City 3000 man did I get lock up's And the sound was repeating over and over... It became a pain...but it's not doing anymore...But i'm going to upgradge my sound card anyway...I don't feel like buying that Adaptor thing that hooks to the joystick port just to play my keyobard on the computer..

I've seen the BSOD in my XP home version a lot too. The sound card tip might be the answer for me also. Thanks, I'll check it out.

Only time I get BSOD's with Win 2K Pro or XP Pro is when I try and overclock to high.

Win NT Kernal altogether has no problems.

I haven't had no BSOD for like a year or something now.

I've had the bsod ~10 times in ~3 months of using XP pro, sometimes after doing scandisk (or whatever they call it now) and when playing less than 100% compatible games.
Only got it like twice in 2k pro, but that OS would mysteriously close apps if it didnt like them...

I upgraded (clean install, dual boot) to WinXP Home about 2 weeks ago i suppose, and no BSOD's, but it sure does have a healthy appetite for my ram. Now i think i should of gone to Win2K pro.

Yeah this thing uses alot of ram..Whats the Minumum ammount?? was it 192Mb or something? Because I only have 128Mb installed right now..and The Avatars arond here don't run that smooth like windows 98 did..Maybe it's the amount of ram I have or something...

Well I will be happy to see my Cousin come over my house soon..He works for Ibm he's the VP Of one of the Departments..I can't remember..I do know they made him move to Flordia so he would be closer to South America.. Anyway.. Lol if I can't get my puter to work right he sure can! I just wonder what he is going to say when I put my Amd stickers up on my computer and drilled holes in the Ibm case..And have a Amd mobo waiting to go in..:eh?:  Oh well allways something new to find out!

This error message is normally generated because of a hardware or driver incompatibility. The following is a quote from the MSKB...

STOP 0x0000000A indicates a kernel mode process or driver attempted to access a memory address that it didn't have permission to access. The most common cause of this error is a bad or corrupt pointer that references an incorrect location in memory. A pointer is a variable used by a program to refer to a block of memory. If the variable has a bad value in it, then the program tries to access memory that it shouldn't. When this occurs in a user mode application, it generates an access violation. When it occurs in kernel mode, it generates a STOP 0x0000000A message.

To determine what process or driver tried to access memory it shouldn't, look at the parameters displayed on the STOP screen information. For example, in the following STOP message...

STOP 0x0000000A(0xWWWWWWWW, 0xXXXXXXXX, 0xYYYYYYYY, 0xZZZZZZZZ)
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
** Address 0xZZZZZZZZ has base at <address>- <driver>

The four parameters inside the parenthesis have the following meaning:

0xWWWWWWWW Address that was referenced improperly
0xXXXXXXXX IRQL that was required to access the memory
0xYYYYYYYY Type of access, 0=Read, 1=Write
0xZZZZZZZZ Address of instruction which attempted to reference the memory at 0xWWWWWWWW

If the last parameter (0xZZZZZZZZ) falls within the address range of one of the device drivers loaded on the system, you will know which device driver was running when the memory access occurred. This driver is often identified in the third line of the STOP screen:

**Address 0xZZZZZZZZ has base at <address>- <driver name>

ive had a few bsod's too but ive been having problems installing easy cd creator 5 platinum,i know about the updates and then the reg hack and can get it working but after sometime i still get bsod's and then the stupid thing gets that reboot after xp logo crap and then i cant even get into safemode:mad: !
i just format and do it again with nero instead of roxio crap and so far ok! id like to know about these codes that was mentioned here as to know if its a driver crash or something else. is there a websire that helps to identify these blue screen messages?
