When I slightly overclock my 8800GTS 640MB my temp increases from <60celcius to 80> celcius in just a little bit overclocking if i go from around 580/1350/850 to 600/1396/880 it will incraese instantly to 80 degrees!

this is so weird but i don't know how this is possible any1 knows what to do?

2x 8800GTS 640MB
XFX 780i SLI
Q8200 @ 3,15Ghz
2x2GB Pc2-6400 ram @ 1125Mhz = 562.5Mhz

What program are you using to monitor the GPU temp? Do you have an A2 or A3 revision core, and what's the case temp?

I use 4 programs,

PC-Wizard
RealTemp
Gpu-z!
SpeedFan 4.38

a2? a3?

Case temp? all temps atm?
GPU-1 54 degrees
GPU-2 58 degrees
Processor 38,5 degrees
Motherboard 18 degrees
Power/Aux 39 degrees
Core 48/45/48/45 degres
Fan speeds all 100%

On speedfan exactly the same!

I just noticed you have 2 GTS 8800's. Try using either RivaTuner or EVGA Precision to read the GPU temp's. Any by "case temp", I was referring to MB temp (in your case the 18C / 64F reading)...
a2? a3?

XFX is A3
BFG is A2 - this one runs hotter when i overclock
but i overclocked it today and it seems like the temps do stay stable now?:S weird but i do have 3 new case fans though so i'm fine now!

maybe nice for you to tell my cards run 641/988/1491 can i overclock them like yours? cause that is sick !!!

Should i try it ?

or yours aint : 621/1512/1944 anymore

His is 621-core/1512-shader/1944-mem. Yours is 641-core/1491-shader/1976-mem, so the difference isn't as great as you think.

Memory speed can be represented by actual clock speed or effective speed. You have shown actual clocks, he showed effective. DDR3-2000 runs at 1000MHz, but has an effective speed of 2000MHz.

Also, the core and shader clocks work in steps. The clocks you set, may not be the clocks you get. I don't think 1491-shader is even possible. It should be 1512 or 1458. Check your actual clocks by using the monitor in RivaTuner or eVGA Precision.

Also, that A3 should OC much better and run cooler than the A2 card. You can probably hit over 700-core on it if you run it by itself.
