Not a lot that can be done with this little information. I also do not think very highly of Quantum drives.
My thought is to boot from a floppy and run fdisk. Do not make any changes, but do see if fdisk recognizes the drive and if it can tell you what file system it is. If fdisk does not see the drive then you have proof to give your boss that the drive has problems.

I suspect that this will be moved to general hardware.
Edit:Jon moved it while I was typing.

Yea, I checked fdisk, couldn't find the drive.I was hopeing there might be some programe that would get past the regestry and FAT table maybe allowing me to get to the data. Im loseing hope on that one.I dont trust these drives eather but its all the dept. will buy.I might get the justification to get better drives with this lose of data at least!

If you fdisk you will loose all your files.

Make sure the jumpers on the drive is set correct slave or master.

And make sure the cable is in it correctly. Go into the bios and make it detect your IDE devices upon boot and you'll see if it boots up or not other than that just seems old and not workin. Where did you pull it from? If it was stored how was it stored in an anti-static bag or anything?

Im not sure of the history of this drive.I got my superviser to check the connections and jumpers behind me.I feel i did every troubleshooting technic i could think of ,Im betting that Im going to lose the battle with this one. Im just checking all the angles before giving up on it.The guy should have made backups if it was that important and HE DID KNOW BETTER HE RUNS THE IT DEPT!
