Using only one motherboard the Soltek SL65KV2-T. I decided to compare 4 OEM Celeron-T's for overclockability. Using a Swiftech
370-U HSF, regular paste and 256mb. of Micron Cas 2 SDR.
.............................1.48 Vcore...........1.63 Vcore..............1.83 Vcore
............................ 124FSB................133FSB...................142 FSB
1.0 ghz..................1243 mhz...........1336 mhz................1423 mhz.
.................................................. .......................................(lockups)
1.1 ghz..................1365 mhz...........1466 mhz................1565 mhz.
.................................................. .......................................(lockups)
1.2 ghz..................1490 mhz...........1604 mhz................1706 mhz.
.................................................. ....................................(43C load)
1.3 ghz..................1515 mhz...........1733 mhz................1848 mhz.
.................................................. .....(no boot past...........(no boot
.................................................. .....Win98 splash)........... period)
I have another motherboard, and I will report the results for that
one in a couple days.
:burn:
It woluld be better if you'd tried to find the minumum stable V-core for each fsb other that giving 1.48V for 124 fsb or 1.63 V for 133 fsb.
But still nice information. Keep them coming. What is your other board?
Terrific work! Thanks and three cheers  for that!
As to the results: I still can't quite understand how the 1.2 Cellis end up being better overclockers than the 1.1A and lower.
Philly's or Malay's!? (Do we have to ask? :D)
I dig that 1706 on the 1.2GHz!

CUBuster,
Where did you get a 1.1a OEM? Did you find it in the Vancouver area? I can't even find a 1.1a Retail around here yet.

Different multiplier for one, his RAM may have been a limiting factor.
I always had a suspicion though that the 1.2's were the real champs of the Celeratin line. Why? Well, they came out along with the PIII Tualatins. Makes me think that they were/are produced on the same lines and may have a higher quality, and that the 1.0 and 1.1's are speed-binned 1.2 Celeratins, possibly produced on different lines. Just guessing, but you never know with wacky Intel!
Oh, and is that the copper or all-aluminum swifty you used?
not everybody is doing so well with 1.2's most here seem to be around 1500ish
hey CUbuster, check your pm :)

A friend of mine has a computer store and wants to get into possibility adding overclocking parts and accessories. He has several motherboards that he wanted checked out for overclockability. The one's he is looking at are those that are not showing up on the database and the forums. He also wanted to see how the various Tualatin Celerons would overclock on each.
I have three motherboards now in my possession.
-MSI 694T Pro (Via)
-Soltek SL65KV2-T (Via)
-Aopen MX3S-T (Intel)mATX
Lots of work coming up switching parts. I am using the same parts for all testing.
-Quantam 20gb. HD
-Asus 7100 MX GForce
-Sound Blaster Live Value
-3 Com Nic 10/100
-AOpen Winmodem
-Aopen CD-Rom
-Yamaha 8x8x24 CD-Writer
-Inwin S500 case and 250 watt Powerman PS
-Swiftech MCX370-OA HSF
Nothing fancy just good parts to give the system a good workout.
Also none of the parts are for sale by me. I would not mind keeping the 1.2 ghz myself. I am also going to try lower Vcores
at various FSB'S.

Forget about the Aopen board. the newer ones almost seem to be Oc neutered.

buster you sold me on that board in my other thread in the motherboard section, now you really got my attention. Funny I posted the similiar question about alternate boards for tually in this section and it got booted to mb, I did it cause people reply more frequently here, and you were the only to answer and boy now did you come through with some good info, great work. That board is also quite cheaper in price too than its competitiors.
P.S if I am not mistaken you got your self a philly chip right? Would you mind mentioning the sspec as well please?

Don't know if this will help you trash cause its outta prov. but check out mlhsystems.com. They have them but you will have to order it online and you will get stuck paying the pst no like in Van. But you could still grab one though if your desperate. Hope this helps.

Yeah I am wondering why you did not try 1733MHz with the 1.3GHz cel-t @ 1.825v. That would have been very crucial to your stats otherwise there is really nothing to go by! I bet it would have went, there is really a difference between 1.63v and 1.83v with these chips.

You bring up a good point. My thinking at time was little clouded
wanting to see what sort of spread in FSB's and voltages each
CPU would handle. I will try your suggestion and report back.
1.3ghz.@ 1733mhz. 1.83 Vcore sure sounds good.

Thanks, I checked it out, but the site doesn't really specify that the OEM 1100 is a Tualatin. The Retail 1100 shows it with a 128k cache so doesn't appear to be a Tualatin either.
I find most local PC store websites lacking the distinction between the regular 1100 and the 1.1a too. And calling them to confirm usually doesn't help much either.
I'm not totally desperate to find one right away, but it would be nice to see them for sale locally by now.

I decided to concentrate on only two of the CPU's the 1.0 & 1.3.
Here is what I have now. The 1.0ghz @1424mhz 1.83 Vcore
37-38c very stable, no lockups. The 1.3ghz. @1732mhz. 1.83 Vcore 43-44c stable. Ran Prime 95 for a couple hours on each no problems. I think I am limited by the memory Micron Cas 2, which seems to run out of steam at 146 FSB. Even running conservative settings of 6-1-1-1 R, 4-1-1-1 W and 2-3-3-CL. I think the 1.3 will go a little higher but I am concerned about the temp's. I will keep
you up to date. I am not going to do any testing on the other two boards.

Whoah! 1.3@1.733...nice! heh, the 1.3 might turn out to be the best OC'er of all the celeratins. What cooler are you using??
