Like the fact that's it's open source...I just don't really have a need for it since I run a Netscreen 5GT at home.

I been thinking....maybe I can stack them? Run the Juniper inside and IPcop out? I like the IDS feature it has.

There are tons of Add ons that you can get so you can customize it pretty heavily.

My IPCop rebuild seems to have run into an issue, everything "works" but it is not passing any network traffic at all.

No updates nothing I changed but something obviously changed.

Does smoothwall have an IDS built in like IPcop?

I like clarkconnect, it is a more feature rich package. I tried smoothwall and it was a bit of a pain to get everything to my liking. What is the deal with the orange, red, nonsense. Is eth0 eth1 really that hard?? It boggles my mind trying to set it up. :D ClarkConnect is very feature rich and a cinch to setup. With the new beta you can install custom packages much easier compared to router packages. It is beta so it takes a bit of hitting it with a hammer to get it working 100%. Soon enough the final will be out hopefully solving all the setup problems. I would try the non-beta first.

It really does depend on what you want to use it for there are tons of options. I personally hate wasting a full computer for just a firewall. I need more.
