Hello,
My configuration is:
Trust 500W power supply
intel e6400 (266x8)
GA-EP35-DS3R
2x2GB Corsair DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 Memory Kit CL5 1.8v
Geforce 8800 GT
I have a little issue in overclocking.
I've read a number of guides, and after de-activating all the not strictly necessary functions, speed step and all such, my computer won't boot if I use a multiplier of 8 and a FSB above 266 (ie. already 290 seems too much).
This whether I raise CPU, RAM and FSB voltage or not.
I also tried switching the multiplier for the RAM so it runs it at a lower-than-spec speed, but that didn't change anything.
PCI-Express is also locked at 100 mhz.
What happens is, I save the settings in the bios, it restarts, and there's no video out, and the bios beeps the "no video card" codes (1 long 2 short).
From what I've read around, it seems quite strange that my CPU/Mobo can't take even such a small overclock. Besides if I boot the computer with the normal 266x8 speed, I can then up that to 315 without any overheating or other issues, under windows, using Gigabyte's Easytune.
Has anyone got an idea about what could be causing this behaviour?
Thanks in advance, and forgive me if I omitted any important information, I'm still quite new to dual core overclocking.
Vorrin
