I just ordered a PSU for my new build and I'm now wondering if I got the wrong wattage.

This is what I have now (or plan on):

Phenom 2 940 3.0 AM2+
TA790GX mobo
4GB GSkill DDR2 1066
4870 1GB (not yet ordered)
WD Caviar black (7200)HDD
1 optical DVD/CD drive
Probably about 3 fans in an Antec 300 (not yet ordered)

I originally planned on an Antec 650W but ordered an Antec 550W instead (free shipping, little less cost bamboozled me).

Am I okay with 550W if no Oc'ing?

Thanks for the input, T

It is on the lower end, but you should be fine. I ran a system similar to that on a 500w PSU no problems so you should be good :)

Yeah you will be fine as long as you dont want to CF

Should be fine but you won't have a lot of room to upgrade the 650w would have been the better choice.

That was quick! Thanks guys!:)

I have become obsessed with building this thing for the cheapest price possible. I know this is not really a good strategy, but I've shaved off almost $200 from my initial estimate through free shipping, a combo deal and some study on different components to choose from.

Actually, as far as I can tell, the PSU and the case are the only two places I've downgraded from my original plan (Antec 900 case and 650W PSU).

I don't mind upgrading later, one component at a time, as needed.

In your sig you didn't list a video card. Are you using the motherboard's onboard video? As long as you are or are using a low-power video card you should be fine.
