Ok guys I have no clue who from the FAQ team is doing this but I will follow Flounder and start my own miniFAQ.

AMD FAQ (http://www.overclockers.com/tips650) Some of the questions that are answered in that FAQ:

1. How do I unlock my Athlon/Duron (covering both Slot and Socket A)?

2. Why can't my KT133 motherboard run at 133Mhz FSB, or even close to it??

3. What are good heatsinks for socket A chips?

4. What is the register 52 tweak and how do I do it?

5. What is a good motherboard for AMD processors?

6. What kind of power supply should I have for my AMD motherboard/processor?

7. What is the 686B bug, how do I know if I have it, and how do I fix it?

8. What is voltage modding and how can I do it?

9. Can I run a regular (non-C type) TBird or a Duron on a KT133A/(other chipset) board?

10. What is the "AMD recommended" list and how does it relate to me?

11. Why is my equipment not on the AMD recommended list?

13. How do I overclock my K6-X processor?

14. What are some things I can do to overclock my AMD X chip more?

15. My socket broke. How do I fix it?

17. What's the difference between all these different types of "Athlons" I see/hear about?

18. What are acceptable temperatures AMD Athlons/Durons? How do I view them?

20. What are the VIA 4-in-1 drivers? Where can I get them? Which version should I use?

21. My computer hangs when using Athlon, Windows 2000 and a program that uses AGP, how do I fix this?

For most of you should NEVER hit anymore than 45c under load and under 40c is preffered. The max you can run this chip is 90-95c depending on your chip.

Nicely done. Like I say at the beginning of mine, a FAQ need not be all encompassing, with answers to every question. Rather, covering the basics has been my goal. I only try to answer the Frequently Asked Questions. ;)

BTW, what's the pencil trick?

Sorry, it was satire...the pencil trick is definately a FAQ...

Is there a guide to increase multiplier using the bridges past
13x because can't get any higher than 13 with my mb

flounder43
01-27-02, 03:06 AM
The limitations are in the motherboard...I think that might be the current limit.

res0r9lm
01-27-02, 03:12 AM
yea but I was thinking that you could pencil in bridges to get higher

flounder43
01-27-02, 03:14 AM
The motherboard still has to generate the clock cycles...the crystal, I believe.

I cannot find any 'Morgan' specific bridge guides. I already have Xp and athlon/duron bridge guides listed in my original post. Did you miss them?

Does anyone know if morgans have different bridges?

I believe they are the same as xp

no their the same as the old duron I got one on sat and the only difference is the core is taller than it is wide

If you have the same bridges as duron spitfire you are either mistaken or you got rip off.

well, the morgans and xp's use the same amount of bridges. morgan look like the spitfires just with more bridges. I'm just going by what I have seen from pictures. if you look at the picture I posted above you will notice alot more bridges

This FAQ stuff is jolly good...

Just found an answer to a question that puzled me for some time.
I remember reading some vague instructions for overclocking a Duron by cutting / connecting the various bridges but it didn't make it obvious why the other bridges besides the L1's needed to be altered.

Small errata for the FAQ... I think in number 5 under

Socket A, PC133 SDRAM BASED:

it's meant to say:

Abit KT7, KT7A and KT7E

instead of

Abit KT7A, KT7A and KT7E

Also, maybe this is just something people are supposed to know or most oc'ers think is obvious, but the FAQ stated in section 9 the problems/limitations of running a 100mhz fsb cpu in a kt133a set to 100 and 133mhz. But, is it true that you can run a 133mhz fsb processor in a 100mhz fsb motherboard, running at 100mhz?

This certainly is a performance reduction, like buying a v6 performance racer and disabling two cylinders, but not all of us can upgrade the whole show in one shot, and replacing a blown cpu with an upgraded one first is a good option..

There are some posts where people hint that this can be done successfully. But it seems like only one person actually posted success to the forum. Any chance of a blurb in the FAQ regarding "Can I buy a 266mhz athlon and run it in my 200mhz board with a performance reduction?"

A friend told me that a higher FSB would risk damaging my DDR
memory?
I use an XP 2000+ with Kingston DDR, 512Mb 2100 at 133mhz FSB.
Would setting the FSB at 140mhz for example damage my memory?
