So i turn my PC on today and i hear this like gurgling bubbling noise so i open the case and my reservior is empty. So I'm like WTF? well checked everything and no tubes were leaking so i look UNDER my case and there is a pool of water. so I look at the pump and SOME HOW there is a droplet size leak coming from under my swiftech pump. And its not a very fast leak so this ish has been leaking for a good week id say. So to everyone...is there a way to fix this? Or do I have to buy an entire new pump?

can you get pictures? take the pump apart and check out things, if it's a new build is the oring in place? if it's still under warranty swiftech will rma it no problems.

Can you check the O Ring on the pump? Also check the barbs as well. What pump do you have?

Dont know what pics will do...its a small drop leak on the bottom. I can check and see if its under warranty.

The pump I have is the Swiftech MCP655. The barbs are fine...its on the bottom that its dripping very slowly out of.

655 uses a large o screw clamp. Can you see if it was misthreaded and not alligned properly? Then unscrew that large o ring, and inspect your internal rubber O-ring.

The large O screw clamp is that black thing that looks like blades.. (ignore the other pump)

Yea at the bottom of the pump...where those "blades" are is where the leak is...I guess I can go take a picture really quick...gotta empty out the system though...take 10

PROBLEM SOLVED!!! that screw off section of the pump was loose as hell...i never checked it when i installed so i guess it came like that...i took it all apart, repositioned the o-ring and tightened it all down...it pumps sooo much faster now AND my CPU temps went down 15-20 degress!!!!

wow, i guess it was never pumping much if any liquid to drop that low. nice 1.

Glad it worked out! I had my system run dry and it shutdown fine but the heat caused the plastic top of my Swiftech VGA block to melt! Apparently the GPU get's hot enough to melt the plastic top uncooled, yikes! I saw the no water right away but I didn't find out about the block problem until I refilled it. When I unplugged the t-line the system lost negative pressurization and water started leaking onto my 8800GTX. I traced the leak to a screw that was too long and actully went through my rad fan and craked a rad tube. I upgraded to a MCR220 and got a replacement top so it turned out ok.

My advise to you is to carefully inspect the rest of the components to see if you had a similar event.

Glad ya fixed it. I'm the curious type. When I bought my first WC parts it had a 655 too. I opened it up (had read how somwhere) for giggles. Glad I did because there was 3 small pieces of packing foam that somehow had got in there.

Moral of the story, no reason not to inspect new parts deeply, for the 'how it works' theme and just to learn and fix issues.

Glad your pump wasn't on top of parts that let the smoke out.

theres nothing really to see.

The Oring clamp wasnt on tightly, so there wasnt enough pressure to hold a seal.

Once pump was on, the pressure from pump made his system slowly spew out life giving fluid.

He said he tighten'd it and that was game.

i know, was talking about the melted block that Ownerator was talking about.

i have 3 of those pumps (2x D5's and 1x D4) which i've messed with.

oh...

ive seen pictures where the acytal on the gpu core only block has melted from the heat on a gpu.

On cpu's today they have thermal shutdown, so i dont think recient cpu's can get hot enough to melt the block.

I looked though all my stuff and I couldn't find the old GPU top. I think I probably threw it out. Sorry!

At first glance I thought the top was glued on. But really it had melted and spread out and inside as it did. Basically it looked like the top had shrunk and the plastic was actually squeezed into the outer rows of pins in the copper base. The o-ring was still there but it was paritlaly covered with the melted plastic. I actually emailed Swiftech and Gabe offered to replace it. What I ended up doing is buying a left over top off of ViperJohn when I bought a 780i chipset cooler setup from him.

My RES+pump+rad are outside my case, this way i can

watch for leaks/watch pump running/prevent disaster if leaking.....

Glad to see you have a replacement ! :D
Hope its gano be back online soon !
