Does anyone know what the max temp my AMD Athlon 900 should be, and the voltage?
Its idle temp is 30.7*C
The Cpu Core Voltage is 1.81V.

Also does anyone know what multiplier and speed is reasonable?

Plz don't flame me I'm new

Firstly a big WELCOME - your very first post and some pertinent questions as well.
Your idle temp is good but its the load temp that is more important. Suggest having a read of the beginner guides;
http://www.overclockers.com/topiclist/index04.asp#BEGINNER GUIDES
Your default multiplier will be 9 and FSB will be 100. The default vcore is 1.7V but some mobos add and what is set may be reported as higher (eg MSI add 0.1V so default is 1.7 but is reported as 1.8)
As to what is reasonable well that's dependent on many factors as you will discover. How long is a piece of string?

It doesn't say in my manual how do change the multiplier or chip multiples.

I suggest you check out the new FAQ posted in this topic by stompah.

First of all, Welcome to the forums.

The first thing that we need to be able to help you is information. Post your system info, include the motherbboard model and chipset, CPU (stepping if possible), HSF, RAM (list the brand as well), other peripherals such as the NIC etc.

Good luck!

See below for how to decipher the stepping and other core codes;

I can't get to my CPU because the guy who built my computer glued a POS Fan and heatsink to it, but i can use SiSoft Sandra 2001 to determine.

CPU: AMD Athlon 900
MoBo: Acorp, 7KTA Bios, VIA KT133 chipset
FSB: 2x 100Mhz (200Mhz Data Rate)
Ram: 2x 128mb Texas Instraments SDRAM

Its multiplier is 9x 100Mhz

When I got it, it had starting up problems, where the screen just went black before I logged onto my Indentity ( the part when you press ok or cancel) also when ever I played games in DOS, I have to play most of my games in a window instead of fullscreen.

How would I be able to detect my load temp?

What is a safe way to take off my heatsink so I can bridge the L1 connections?

Would it be better to have more volts or less?

How can I tell how many watts my power supplie has?

   Thanks a lot! ;)

you can download the motherboard monitor
on www.m3dzone.com try it

yes it's safe but be carefull to connect the L1 bridge
do not touch the other bridge it may cause damage

if you wanna too have more volts you have too change you hsf
better

i would recomended you the psu 300w or the 330w for the safe

Thnx for the advise, but do you have any suggestions on how to get my heatsink off, than back on again?

what your heatsink
you must bring the mobo out
and relese the heatsink

I've never had that problem but I did remove the cap from a K6. I used an "X-acto" knife and took my time.

Another method that is used when removing the heat sinks from chipsets and video cards is to freeze the board, which makes the adhesive brittle and makes removal possible. I can't recommend this procedure, as I have no experience with it.

Try starting another thread with that question in the header, you may get more looks.

Good Luck!

can you show me the pic of your problem?????

Heres the pic.

I unscrewed the fan but than the heatsink is stuck on.
So are you saying to take the whole mobo out than detatch it?

i think you must take the whole mobo too put take your hsf
that's the only way:eek: :)

Yea I took out the whole mobo, I didn't need to its just that it was so hard to get off cuz it was glued and clipped. I did get it off and I also unlocked my Athlon 900. Just 1 question, How do I change the multipliers and voltage?

ThePunkGeek

keep under 50 and dont belive the mobo probes

Thnx for the advice, I thought over 45 is really bad. I use MBM5 and all of those other progs to determine the temp. Are they accurate? I read my mobo manual and the only thing it mentions is how to change the cpu clock speed on the actual mobo, when I can change it in the bios. What should I be looking for if I wanted to change the voltage and multiplier? I read the manual and looked on the mobo but I cant find out how to switch them. Its really nagging me. Also my multiplier is 9x and my cpu clock is 100mhz. When ever I change the cpu speed to over 105 it starts doing weird things. Is it because my voltage is still 1.81 or my multiplier is at default settings? I unlocked my cpu with a pencil but is there a way to check if it worked? Does anyone know how to check how many watts my power supply is? Please if you can answer all the questions do so. I can't thank you guys enough!;) :D thnx!
