So I'm looking to upgrade from a 4850 512mb reference card to a kick ass one. I only have 1 PCI-e Slot due to m-ATX broad.

Would this be a good card? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121308

That would be a great card! Esp for the price! I have heard good and bad things about the voltage tweaker software. You are getting a better than reference cooler for the same price as a ref. model.

Looks good to me, however, you could wait for the ATI 5000 series. I bought the 4890 but as soon as the 5000 series out im ditching my 4890.

Problem is, when is the 5000 series comming out? lol.

But yea if you need a new GPU now, 200$ for that thing looks good. You'll love it those 4890s are complete beasts!...

Solid card, great cooler (exhausts out the back)! Go for it. There is nothing much in 5000 series that you will need immediately, but if you can wait as you have a decent card already, might as well.

Is the 5000 series supposed to be a huge improvement over 4800? other then DX 11

It will be noteably faster. But its all rumors now. Last I heard from them was, "you will be pleasently surprised". The last time we heard that from ATI/AMD, was the HD2900 and that thing was a monunmental flop in most people's eyes.

I like the design of that Asus card, with the dual fan setup, but I need a native HDMI connector so I went with

because it has every kind of connector on it already. HDMI, DVI, DSUB, and Display Port.

I've used Sapphire before (my 4870X2) and never had any issues with them. (though some people have had problems)

I plan on eventually replacing the stocker heatsink on the 4890 with a Scythe Musashi anyway, but I will use the stocker long enough to get a feel of how much of an improvement it is over my older reference Vision Tek 4870 512Mb card currently in HTPC #2.

(Note: I have a Sapphire 4870X2 in my gaming PC, a pair of Vision Tek 4870s in HTPC #2 and a spare test-bed machine, and a passively-cooled GeForce 9400GT 1GB card in my Dell HTPC #1)

I've been really impressed with the performance of the Musashi cooler on the 4870 thus far and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to lower both their temperatures and noise. HTPC #2 is now, with the exception of the crappy 120mm fan on the back) as quiet as my Dell HTPC (which is pretty damn-near silent)

Get whatever 4890 is cheapest. Don't waste your money.
