I have a CELERON cpu and a asus CUV4X mobo.
Original settings were 567MHz/67MHz.
New settings 708MHz/83MHz.
cpu temp between 31c/35c
mobo temp 35c/38c
I am getting a warning from SANDRA that AGP bus speed too high.
PCI BUS speed too high.
ISA/DMA BUS speed to high.

MY question how do I reduce the AGP, PCI, ISA BUS speed?
SHOULD I?
Are the temps good?
There not much higher then before I Clocked it.
Where is the multiplier?
I went into bios and found the AGP/PCI reduced the setting but still get the warning from sandra.
NEED YOUR WISDOM!

THANKS,
COMPUTERMAN

If your board can support auto dividers then set it to 33PCI Bus and 66 AGP Bus.

If you can't ignore Sisoft Sandra then because when overclocking you have dividers with the FSB...

Use the Sisoft Sandra Burn-In for about an hour then tell us your temperatures. Those 566 Celeron's were the best overclocking thing I saw lots got over 1gig.

Try 100fsb.

Sandra's always gonna complain about the PCI/AGP/ISA buses being too high. Those buses are run off of the FSB, with a divider to control them. On most boards, that divider is set to 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4(for PCI, there's a similar system for AGP, as well). Yours is probably set at 1/2... so yes, your buses are a little high. On that board, I don't think there's much you CAN do about them.

Temps look great, what are you using for cooling??? If I were you, I'd try and shoot for 100MHz now, I bet your processor can handle it. If you can hit 100MHz FSB, then all of your dividers will again be in spec and Sandra will stop complaining about them.

Thank you for your quick response,

Tried 100 computer wouldn't boot took me back to bios so I had to bring it back to 83. I am thinking that when I get some better memory that maybe I can go farther. Am I right in thinking that or will I need to do something else?

I am looking forward to taking the next step. But first I am gonna get a Swifty. I want to take this to the limit but with caution.
I downloaded shutdown now (just in case). The cpu fan and heatsink (Thermal) I've got a fan in the front part of my case and one in the rear not including the power fan. Gonna do the burn test you mentioned and give you the results.

What is your CV, (core voltage)....you might be
able to reach 100FSB with an increase of the CV.
This can also increase temps.

No point in getting the swiftech. Your motherboard probably don't have the 4 holes to mount it, although the old Celeron's don't need excessive cooling all you need on that is the Volcano 6cu+ or something small.

What stepping is your 566? I'm guessing a cB0 use Sisoft Sandra and then "CPU Information" and on the first page it says stepping.

To post raise your vcore up abit since it needs more voltage.

COMPUTERMAN>> Is it a micro ATX or am I wrong? A buddy of mine has don' t really remember the model, so I can be wrong a Micro ATX Asus mobo, that he for an unknown reason can't OC the FSB changes are locked. he can't change any thing in BIOS, and there are no dipswitches on the mobo, is it the same 1 or am I wrong?

I'M BACK!
CPU BEFORE TEST 31c
AFTER 44c
MOBO BEFORE 37c
AFTER 39c
CV 1.50
MODEL ASUS CUV4X ACPI BIOS RIVISION 1005
ATX YES
MICRO NO
ALL OF MY BIOS EXCEPT MULTIPLIER ARE ADJUSTABLE.
WHAT DO I NEED TO GOTO THE NEXT STEP. 100FSB!

Do this:

Go into your bios,

Change your vcore to: 1.6v

Then change your FSB to 100 then save and then reboot it should post and get into Windows and be stable.

DIDN'T WORK.
WHAT NEXT?

Yodums was on the right track... you may need to raise the CV... try a little more than that but I wouldn't go over 1.95 or so. When I had a 600MHz Celery, I used 1.95V to get it to 1026MHz. If this works, be sure to monitor your temps, the more CV you use, the more heat your processor will generate.

Go to 1.7v now just to jump start it. If it posts test the stablity for 72 hrs if its stable try for more.

On those old chips I think the max the bios will allow is 1.7 unless you vid pin it.

WENT TO 1.7 NO GO.
IT ONLY GOES TO 1.75 NO GO.
WHAT SHOULD I TRY NEXT? DO I HAVE TO START SURGERY ON THE CHIP? WHAT IF I FLASHED MY BIOS?
WHAT IF I GOT BETTER RAM?
GOT 256 AND TWO 64=384
PERHAPS THE WEAK LINK IS THE RAM?
I DUNNO!!!

HELLO MR CAPLOCKS MAN :D

I think it maybe your ram try taking out the 64mb out assuming it is PC66 and only leaving the 256.

And then try booting at 1.6v first.

Hey Yodums! It's all that "NEW" power from my first clock. It made the fonts bigger. I tweaked the keyboard bus and all is well.
Gonna try the ram solution like you suggest. Will let you know how it turns out.

Thanks to everyone for all the knowledge.

Fonts bigger? Keyboard bus overclock?

That I never heard of unless you changed the speed rate in the bios for the keyboard and you changed IE to view fonts to bigger or something.

It was a joke Yodums;)

Gonna buy some new ram and see what happens.

Why arent you testing it without the 64mb's first?

256 should be enough for now and the ram prices are going up <again>...

Throw a better hsf on that beast too, that worked for me to get my celly 500 to 100 fsb. Try doing that without the extra voltage, then step the voltage up bit by bit. I am thinking that maybe when you try to boot at 100 fsb that your temps are shooting through the roof. Also I agree with Yodums, remove that old 64 meg ram.

COMPUTERMAN

OK. Gonna try the ram solution and let you know what happend.

You got a cele 500 running at 100 FSB ...not bad what voltage???

I could never get mine faster than 600

1.50v
Had it up to 708cpu FSB 83 but the system got a little shakey. Brought it down to 680cpu FSB 80 runnin' good and solid.
mobo temp 40c
cup temp 40c
both stay between 37c and 40c
haven't had a chance to try the ram solution yet gonna give it a try and see what happens. I've been told that a SWIFTY may not fit my board asus cuv4x.
What other coolers are on the same level as SWIFTY yet will fit my board?

THANKS FOR THE WISDOM,

Yes, I got a 500 Cellery up to 750 at 100 fsb. Believe it or not it was the only OC that i could do on that chip. It wouldnt boot at 75,or 83, but only 100 fsb. No voltage increase either. The chip was out of an emachines and clocked on an old Soyo SY-6IZA mobo.
