I just bought a new Samsung LN52A550, and it is the greatest thing I have ever done for myself. For now, I am using the card in my sig. I am actually quite impressed with it's output. I can play Crysis Warhead at 1920*1080 with all settings at Gamer, with only the occasional lag. And slight lag at that. As beautiful as it is, it will not allow me to use any AA. But everything looks wonderful (but totally unplayable) with the AA set to 2x. So fo rno other reason than I want to, I am upgrading my card. I have looked at the 4890 1gb cards and the 4870 2gb cards. The 4890 Sapphire Toxic can be had for $220, and the 4890 2gb for about the same price. Will the extra gig of memory on the 4870 offset the greater speed of the 4890? Any advice would be a great help guys. Thanks for reading the long post!

While 1920x1080 is certainly a higher resolution. 2GB is more useful for even higher than that. My vote would be the 4890 and get the speed.

I would definitely say the 4890.

And if you ask me, the XFX might be the way to go. All the other cards have 1-3 year warranties, XFX has double lifetime (so if you sell it, that person also gets a lifetime warranty).

I realize most people probably upgrade before 3 years, but it's a nice thing to have in any case.
