Gaza was doing 1000k a month, now ZERO?

Fhanderson was doing 300k, now ZERO?

CyboRob was doing 1,200k, now ZERO?

Hack30 was 406k, now ZERO?

Andy_R was 470k now ZERO?

Adak was 1000k now ZERO?

Lord_Anubis was 460k now ZERO?

and the list goes on and on........

Summer Heat and other RL issues stop some of our Main Folding Champs,,

We are just giving MPC a false sense of security that they are pulling away from us.

Come this fall...however....

My utility bills forced me to cut back and as a result I've lost about 30K PPD. I'll be back when the weather cools though!

RL and utility bills have had a huge affect on me also. That is also why I haven't been active on the forum for several weeks now.

I bought 2 dirt bikes (Honda CRF250R and CRF80) back in the spring for my son and I, and we have been very busy riding and working on them. However, it wasn't until I got my June electric bill that I had to shutdown half of my folding farm. My electric bill was a lot more than I expected ($350 range). Combine this with the money that I am spending on riding the dirt bikes, and I had to cut back some. Hopefully when the weather cools, I can restart the rest of my rigs.

My last electric bill (Not folding) was $275 in electric costs only. Then throw the $40 in water in there and were talking a lot of freakin money. Now you know why I am not folding at this time. A/C is running a lot in the summer in FL.

I went to St Pertersburg (sp?) to visit family one summer. I couldn't imagine the AC not on 24/7. The heat there is just crazy. LA's dry heat doesn't even compare to Florida's heat+humidity

I'm too competitive to stop till ChasR is in my sights.

speaking of which, ChasR are you like some millionaire with nothing better to spend your bone chips on? How do you get 100+ machines that fold so much per day if they are going to be used by people?

Thats the problem I am running into. I have a plethora of machines I can install FAH on, but they just have to be use able, and It cant be noticeable. Meaning the idiots that use the machines will click and tinker with anything they can see.

so i technically have to hide the darn thing....pretty much like a virus. If I could install an SMP as a start up service with no icon in the system tray, i'd be able to get one of those on a i7 every day.

My PPD (meagre few k PPD to start with) has plumetted recently due to losing two borgs (one was my brothers PC I had built and was 'testing' until he came back from holiday, the other was a machine in the lab that only *just* gets a wireless connection and is too much trouble to manage for the odd time it doesn't miss the deadlines) and having my laptop off the mains a lot (no mains power = no folding = missing a few deadlines ... eek).

Yea I know how you mean,

My folding has dropped about 10K, moved house again. Big disruption to my pc environment. Also lost the ability to use two quad systems. Sigh.

I'm not a mega folder, but I do enjoy passing up ex mega folders now and then :D

I'll kick it up to 15k PPD and that's the best I can do until I become a millionaire myself LOL

Dry heat in S Oregon will reach 43°C this weekend, but my swamp cooler will let me keep the pedal to the metal anyway

High pressure center just won't move away from the 4 corner's area. (AZ, NM, CO, UT), Sends the hot desert air right to me ==> express!

A/C is cycling on, 17-18 hours a day, even without folding.

As soon as it cools down, I'll be folding again. Minus the GTX280 though - it crapped out on me (memory went bad).

the AC at my work hasn't shut off in over 3 days. Crazy desert heat.

2 options.

1.) cmdow http://www.commandline.co.uk/cmdow/ (check out this thread (http://www.ocforums.com/showpost.php?p=5756572&postcount=7) at the bottom)
2.) run vmware server with notfred/linux vm. (nothing will popup or be in the systray when the computer(s) start)+they will be able to fold the "good" wu's.

I have had SMP running as a service on XP no problem (two of my borgs are office machines). Windows 7 and Vista are trickier and I've never managed to get them to work properly.

You can get software to hide windows by the way. Can't remember any off of the top of my head.

I'm down a bit too (20~25k)... the Edison bill keeps climbing, even though I already shutdown two G92 gpus and now I've taken a quad and another G92 offline. We'll see how this next month turns out.

I'm in Lower Alabama and the heat+humidity is comparable to you guys in Florida. We had 86F one day last week... but otherwise it's been 90F+ every day for the last 6-8 weeks. Still Folding on 4 quads and a dual and 5 GT200 based gpus. Except for one of those rigs I actually use them quite often, whether in a desktop or server capacity... so I'm pretty much leveled out to "necessity"... I could always stop the gpus, but I think the GT200s are worth the power vs. the G92. I hope not to shut down any more.

Lee didn't like the (back then) new GPU2 & it's point system, and walked away....

Flexy & gaza are always up and down depends on the time of the year.....

me? I'm enjoying a nice, quiet, and cold house with 50+% off from my last year's electric bill!!

I know my points have been down in the last couple of months due to some misfortune in the office and life but guess what I am back at 75%.

The good news is I am starting to get my folders up and running again after some new parts have show up:cool: to replace the burnt out ones.

I should be back to 60 to 80k range soon and am planning on adding a 4 GPU system in late August to add another 20k:rolleyes: to my overall score.

Cheers

I am enjoying having sub $200/mo. electric bills. :D Edison sent me a letter stating that last year's billing[this period] was $445; would be $499 under current rates. My recent electric bill: $127. I'll be pumping it up later on this year.

Same story here... summer and lack of funds. Believe me, it pains me to know I have no output. I really love the cause, and racking up points for Team 32 :) But I really have to watch my spending these days.

Somebody send me an extra $100 a month for the power bill, and I'll keep folding :santa2: I have 3 nice quad cores and nice gpus to go with them, just sitting around :temper:

I did wonder why my PPD was horribly pathetic at the moment - turns out my highest producing rig had stalled. Lovely. Restarted so should see a boost of at least 1.5 kPPD.

Ohh, David, I'm curious What's the proposition for your thesis?

Ohh, David, I'm curious What's the proposition for your thesis?

I'm only one year in (of a total of 3.5 years funded) by my thesis title will be something along the lines of "Quantifying the Interplay of Structure and Reactivity in Ruthenium-Alkylidene Catalysed Ring-Closing Metathesis". Basically we are looking to quantify how subtle changes in substrate structure have an effect on the reaction, e.g. RCM of octadiene goes cleanly to cyclohexene even at 4 M but RCM of nonadiene (one CH2 unit longer) goes abysmally!

If you are into chemistry check out this paper we published a couple of months ago (well officially 7 JUL 09 but it was available online before that). The follow-up full paper is 90% done, we're just putting the finishing touches together. We've also got a Tetrahedron paper submitted looking at ring-closing metathesis to make fluorinated sugar analogues.

Hah.. unfortunately most of that went much beyond my level of known. I caught about 1/3 of it.

I'm into a bit of everything, but my latest Chemicals Research involved "Research Chemicals" and came pretty much out of PIHKAL, and probably shouldn't be discussed on the open forums much beyond that.

I'm more of a 'Neato' junkie. I learn a little bit about a large range of subjects, enough to have a conversation on them, with someone who's not an expert.
