Loading an OS on a netbook, help please.

This is probably a topic that has been well covered, but I couldn't find any discussions. If some one knows of this same discussion please link me to it, otherwise help please!

I bought a gateway netbook and for whatever stupid reason they load vista on it. I dont know why gateway feels the need to put vista on a netbook, but I would like to switch to xp. I don't have an external cd drive or anything... how do i go about loading windows xp on it?
