last posted a few years ago. was just reminded of the principles behind the block.

Conumdrum

Thats the block made of unobtainium that was used in the space shuttles 386 processor.
LOL, like I know, I ain't no old time expert. I'm just well informed and only been at this two years or so now, mebbe a bit longer.

Honestly i have no clue am very new to WC , a bit informed but not on old school stuff , silver was an easy guess, but i have a feeling cathar had something to do with it :)

thats a bit more than informed for the guess. most would not have made that particular guess having only joined here this year. in fact i thought maybe you where a remade account of much older members when i first saw the post

hint, it's technology has to do with the weather. it's not the one i thought it was but the hole pattern is the same.

Neat thread... love the history angle. So this block was from what, 4-5 years ago? I wonder how much these cost back in the day...
Thats the block made of unobtainium...
According to Oakley, my watch strap is made from that as well. :D

that is the newest in the line of blocks so it was only 2.5 years old . the first series of block is about 6.5 years old called the storm . the original batch was of only 4 blocks made from 99.997% pure silver cut to specifications then shipped to cathar where he had the blocks CNC'd along with all the other parts.
after posting the results and the nerd porn here interest was high enough that he received down payments on individual blocks so once he had enough orders a second and 3rd batch of silver blocks where made ( not to be confused with the copper version which at the time where the worlds top performer aside from these customs for individuals).
he then went on to the G series blocks which perform even better over a wider range on the PQ . the G series was in sequential numbers and for release the 4 was copper the 5 was silver ( i have the original storm in silver and the G5 as a hold over till stew was finished with the 7)
the 7 is also silver only but is sooo expensive and time and resource consuming ( physical and mental resources) that there were only 3 to ever be made . the list was cathar himself niksub and myself.
but life gets put on hold and real work and family come first. some of you are firmiliar with what happened to stew so i will leave that story for him to tell if he ever returns .
so that's it in a nutshell.
now here is another pic that may give just a hint at why machining 117 micro jet nozels are so difficult.

Ya good stuff huh? I never came to this site for a long time, just got busy with other stuff and forgot. Now I've been lurking around for the past 2 months. But when I saw this I knew it was a storm just could not remember witch one. Also what ever happened to Swiftech making them?

Ohhhh you got a prototype G7...
Scott said it wasn't that impressive on LGA775 Quads tho if i remember correctly...
It will probably do awesome on an i7 tho. LOL do you have mounts for it?
I wonder how it would do against something like a HK or a KL-350 tho...
I dont think we can get any more better then those two... and were nearing the apex of waterblocks.

Meh, people will be saying that again in a couple years. I suppose the HK in silver would be badass.

Sorry I haven't been into it long enough to know about the history of this block but I am drooling over the silver and machining of this piece of art. I have a journeyman's card in machining so I can appreciate the work done here. ah silver,
That's what I get for not posting here for a while.
I know that is a G7.
