I have decided to upgrade my GPU to a GTX 285 and I've narrowed down myself to two choices:

Gigabyte GV-N285UD-1GH (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/VGA/Products_Spec.aspx?ClassValue=VGA&ProductID=3100&ProductName=GV-N285UD-1GH)
Asus ENGTX285/HTDI/1GD3 (http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=rLr7n3PAgxOvjw3T&templete=2)

Both are non-overclocked and both are being marketed as "enhanced" (Asus - Super ML Caps and stuff, Gigabyte - "Ultra Durable").

Now I can't decide which one to get. "On paper" Asus seems to offer more, but then again their PCBs are built in China (Gigabyte's - in Taiwan) and it costs ~20 EUR less for some reason. Besides, I already had one Asus GPU dead recently (8800GTX, not overclocked).

What's your opinion?

they must only be selling the Asus over the drink, here in the US i have been waiting for the Asus card to be re-released, the current version they sell here doesnt carry the new Caps.

:(

either card should give you a good overclock. good luck.

I can't point you to any reviews/articles etc but I do remember seeing good things about the gigabyte "Ultra Durable" line of products. I remember seeing a video of a tour of the Gigabyte factory where it went into detail about the "Ultra Durable" products but after a quick google I can't find it. Like Chinstrap says, both cards should give you good results. Their both top companies

Super ML Caps? Whats the story with those? Longer lasting, better Tweaking? More over-clockable?

EVGA has an uber warranty and a step-up program. Do you really need ubercaps? Will you be volt-modding?

lower temps, longer lasting. all the things you would expect really.

That's pretty cool. I like what they are doing.

^yeah, for the average user it makes no difference as most hardware lasts long after it's passed retiring age. But for us heavy overclockers every degree cooler matters. And when applying vmods it's good to know you have some heavy duty caps and VRM's to handle it. Can't be a bad thing.
