problems with acer aspire 9302wsmi

i got my hands on an acer laptop that woun't boot or anything
however it comes with one long beep and two short beeps
when i goes into the servicemanual for it it tells me that it is ( copyed from the servicemanual ) 98h 1-2 Search for option ROMs. One long, two
short beeps on checksum failure.
anyone who knows what that means
like is it the bios that are corrupt or dead cpu or what ele it can be

one long beep and two short beeps is a vga error beep, so i'd check the video adapter/graphics card
