i am using my p2 350 mhz, with 256 ram, and whatnot, but still, i would get a 2400 with my VOODOO 3!!!! WHATS WRONG??? i am doing 800 x 600 x 16 bit...so whats up

The first thing i would chk for would be, either Anti Aliasing or V-Sync. Those can dramatically lower your score.

RangerJoe

alright, turned off v sync and anti aliasing

damn, 2806 that time

WHAT IS WRONG

LMAO...
"i am using my p2 350 mhz"
dude, youd be lucky to hit 3k period... why are you wining? you cpu is 3x lower then the advage overclocker..
i got 3800 with a gf2 gts 64mb on a 1.4ghz pc... so 2806 is good for a 350mhz pc..

yeah i think your whole system is the bottleneck. Does your MB even support AGP 4x?? Secondly on PII's L2 cache is onboardso that equates to a seperate bus speed just for that. And that makes it dramatically slower for the processor to gain access to the date on the cache. But i'm not much on chip architecture, but i would think that the TI-200 GPU is optimized to runon a system with atleast a 700MHz processor. So I'd say if buying a new cpu/MB is out of the question, try to get some money for that TI-200 and stick with the Voodoo3

Just a sugesstion...Have you gone into your bios and changed the AGP fast writes to "on"?...
and set your AGP Aperture size=(half of your memory usually)assign IRQ to AGP=Enabled
Disable Video bios csahing, and Video Bios Shadow

that may help a little...for real results: get a faster CPU and a new board, and minnimum of 512 mb DDR

so you all think it is my computer thats making the big diff. i am running 2x agp, 100 mhz fsb,

and MaxPower, WTF ARE YOU THINKING!!!!! TRADING IN THE GF3 FOR A VOODOO 3 !!!!!!!, THATS DUMB REALLY DUMB

2x is definitly not helping at all, your system is old and is definitly holding you back, but thats a given, try somew more tweaks and you might get 3000 :cool:

no, i dont think your system is a bottleneck. it got to be some setting you dont know how to set.
it would help a lot if you could post here some important driver and agp settings you have. based on nothing i can say that the anisotropic filter could be causing this, you might want to check it.
post the settings, its not good a ti200 perform so close to that voodoo card.

Are you kidding?! 100 FSB! 350 MHz CPU!?!? That thing is slowwwwwwwwww...you wasted your money upgrading to a GeForce 3 with that POS, should have got maybe a Kyro 2 to last you until you could afford a barebones system that didn't blow! :p

well i think it wont increase too much but it is still too low, dont u think?
rangerjoe can make a search at the madonions website for the projects using the same system and vcard..

alright to you who say i shouldnt have bought the card because im using this computer, well if you look below, thats the computer the card will ultimately be in, im just waiting for MSI to send me the new motherboard.

alright, to you who think some of the settings are wrong...here we go....

anti aliasing - off

-direct 3d stuff-
ebable fog table emulation - checked
display logo when running direct 3d application - unchecked
mipmap detail level - blend
pci texture memory size - use up to 31 mb

-open GL stuff-
enable buffer region extension - checked
allow the dual planes extension to use local video memory - checked
use fase linear-mipmap-linear filtering - checked
default color depth for texture - use desktop depth (32 bit)
buffer flipping mode - auto-select
vertical sync - always off
anisotropic filtering - disabled
use up to 5 mb of system memory for textures in PCI mode (i think this might be way wrong)

-more direct 3d stuff-
texel alignment - value: 3

analog monitor
display timing - auto detect

-----stuff in rivatuner----
-open gl-
syncronization with vertical retrace - always off
prerender limit - 2
buffer flipping mode - auto select
z-buffer - force 16 bit z-buffer - not checked
default bit depth for texture - as desktop
enable S3TC quality trick - unchecked
default degree of anisotrophy - level 1 (off)
hardware acceleration mode - max acceleration mode
disable support for enhanced CPU instruction sets - unchecked
amount of system memory for PCI textures - 5 mb
antialiasing - off

-direct 3d tweaks-
mipmap LOD bias adjustment - 0.5
enable use mipmaps - checked
enable 24-bit z-buffer - checked
enable W-buffer - checked
enable lossless Z-buffer compression - checked
enable early Z-occlusion culling - checked
enable wait after blit when DDBLT_WAIT flag is specified - unchecked
always wait after blit - unchecked
limit the maximum number of queued blits to the frame buffer - unchecked
Vsync - auto
prerender limit - 3
(this is the textures tab under direct 3d tweaks for you with this program) -directX8 applications)
checked
checked
checked

checked
amount of system memory for PCI textures - 0 mb
degree of anisortopy - determined by direct3d application
-compatibility-
enable table fog emulation - checked
-antialiasing-
enable antialiasing - checked
antialiasing meatod - none
force antialiasing in all direct3d applications - unchecked

those are all the settings for all the tweaking i know how to do

BTW im using the 23.11 detonator

hope this means anything to one of you

I don't see why you're benchmarking with a system the card isn't going to be in. It probably is the system that is holding you back. If you don't think so, post your results when you get the new MB, and install the card on that system, and if you still have low scores, then you have a legit complaint. The 100 Mhz bus is probably hurting your scores, as well as the PII's lack of instruction sets to fully utilize the software.

well the reason i benchmarked on this computer, is because i can still play games on this computer, and i was testing it out.....so thats why, i cant put it in the good computer, because i dont have a motherboard for it, its coming next week i think......

there is nothing there that in my opinion could hold down the scores so much, despite only one settings: that vsync auto in the d3d rivatuner settings. that can enable vsync in 3dmark.
id like to suggest you a few things if you dont mind.
always configure the settings using rivatuner, if you need anything that it hasnt available for you (like the ogl buffer region extension) you open your display advanced settings and configure everything there the way you want; then you open rivatuner and reconfigure everything the way you want and dont make any changes anymore till you need. in other words, always reconfigure everything using rivatuner after youve opened up the display advanced settings windows.
some settings:
- mipmap to the max;
- you can decrease the pci text mem size to the minimum you got in both ogl and d3d settings, wont change anything but will make you to feel better ;);
- enable the s3tc quality trick;
- enable always wait after blit;
- vsync not auto, vsync always to always off;
- the texture options for directx7 and 8: - disable the FOURCC DXT1..DXT5 textures for both the directx versions;
- i prefer to set myself the degree of the anisotropic filter, you choose;
- disable also the "enable antialiasing" option.

again, the only thing that could be holding the score all that down is the vsync set to the auot option.

i got a question, you sed the system that your Geforce3 is goin in is in your sig right? right. and you sed your board was dead, THEN HOW DO YOU KNOW YOUR TEMPS ON A DEAD BOARD?!?!?!

Wega!

I think he might be running on another bord, don't ya think? Actually I think the P2 is his backup system, and he used that while he's waiting for the board in the sig to return from RMA.

walter is correct, im getting the same board back, just a new one, and that is why i put "WAITING FOR THE NEW BOARD TO BE SENT BACK" or whatever variation of that it is.....im willing to bet the temps dont change with the new board...sooo

my p2 is the backup system, and i run my internet through it, because i have an ISA slot modem, and on the MSI board, i dont have that, the only pci modems i have are bad, so i just run the internet through the p2, then turn on internet sharing....easy enough

Ok, just hope this settles everything once and for all. I just upgraded the CPU on my second system, and ran 3DMark 2001. My previous high score with that system was 530 with a celeron 400@451. I have upgraded the CPU to a Celly 900@900, and my high score is now 1278. The ONLY thing I changed was the CPU. Aside from the fact that the 400 was a slot1, and the 900 is running on a slotket, there were no changes made to the system.
