Hi all,

I just ordered 4 80mm 39.5 CFM Panaflos from a website in Germany. I believe they are untailed. So, my question is, how do I connect them to my power supply. I am not yet interested in getting a Bay/Fan bus.

Do I simply connect black to black and red to red?

Cheers,
F

WELCOME TO THE FORUMS
.....and to the addiction:eek:

Your in luck there is an article on the front page of this site that explains the voltages from a ATX PSU. Just click on this (http://www.overclockers.com/tips808/):D I suggest you buy a few molex connectors so you can disconnect your fans without having to cut the wires.

The 12 volt wires on a molex connector are yellow and black. So hook red (fan) to yellow (molex), then black to black.

If you have one of these laying around, it would make things simpler, I cut mine off of an old 40mm pentium fan. Search your friends' junk drawers.

Have fun, and Welcome to the Forums.

*edit* hey Sonny, how's it going? You posted while I was writing, Guess that's what I get for being long winded huh?

Or you could do like I did for my two untailed 120MMs. Took two old 486 and 586/686 heatsinks with fans and snipped those two wires going away from the molex connectors, as seen in Diggrr's picture.

Then through twisting the corresponsing wires together and using electrical tape to seal the deal, I tailed my 120MMs :D. They have remained tailed since last summer.

Man, that was quick.

Thanks all!

I'll wait for them to arrive. If I trust myself enough I'll do it manually. I've found a website in Canada selling 3- and 4-pin tails. So, that's another option.

In any case, my case already has two fans in it, so it isn't a rush job.

Thanks again all!

Where do you guys get those little three pins connectors? Or the molex? I tried Radio Shack and they don't have them. I think Directron sell them, but they want $3 for one. Where can you get them cheap?

The website I found selling the tails is

http://www.pcmods.com

Just do a search on "panaflo" and you'll find it.
