It is fair. A2s are more efficient and do more work so they are worth more points. Unfortunately A2s don't work with Windows yet, but soon.

Why can't they just score things fairly so people don't worry about which type of work packet they get?

"Fair" is a very complicated concept when it comes to points for a WU. What is fair for one type of WU with one type of computer, is definitely not fair, for others. As soon as you start mixing in the various pc's and types of WU's, any reasonable plan for points becomes unfair.

It's all been looked at from many different point of views.

Vijay has finally decided to (slowly) adjust the points system so WU's which get more done for science, will get more points. That seems like a very simple concept, but for various (social) reasons, it has not been done that way in the past.

A1s seem to have a lot more nanoseconds per gflops then A2s.
For a2s i run ~10gflops and .7-.8ns/day.
