Will the AMD Athlon XP processors run fine with Windows 2000 Professional?

AMD XP CPUs and Win2k will run fine together, but I think Windows XP has optimisations to make it run faster. Don't worry, your system will run fine.

I've got win2k pro and athlon XP(had). It runs just fine. Fast, smooth, and no BSOD.

Thanks for the input guys!

I had Windows XP Professional on here, but.. it messed up some games like Quake 2. I mean, the sensitivity of the mouse would get all screwy.

I tried setting soo many options, it's unreal. Never could get it to stay put. I finally tired of it and went back to Win2K Pro.

So far, so good on the Win2K & AMD XP combo. My CPU actually runs a little cooler on Win2K, perhaps because of the "optimizations" it's not using?

Nevermind.. seen a performance drop when I went to Windows 2000 Professional.

I ran 3DMark2001 after setting everything up (over 56k it was fun) and seen some pretty low scores.

So now i'm back to Windows XP Professional. Guess i'll have to learn to use the messed up sensitivity in Quake 2.

I'm just glad it doesn't effect Counter-Strike. :D
