I want to find an MMO that's:
Populated
Laptop-friendly
F2P or P2P
Not in the list below, as I've already played these.
No-go List:
EVE
WoW
EQ2 (not laptop friendly anyway)
Warhammer
Vanguard (Even worse than EQ2. This thing even brings my desktop to it's knees...)
My laptop's on the very very low end with a 1.9Ghz Turion-X2, 2GB RAM and a Radeon Xpress 1250...yeah.
I'll accept "Good luck with that one." as an answer if applicable. :( I'd just like something to fill my time with until I get back to college where my desktop's in storage.
EQ1, many people say it is better then EQ2, and I *think* even has more players then EQ2. Not to mention the world is bigger then the real world I think ;)
Aion
Silkroad
Tibia
Thats as far as my MMO experiance goes, with the exception of WoW and Warhammer

Guild Wars. http://www.guildwars.com/freetrial/
No monthly fee, plenty of content. Events are hosted and updates are pushed out regularly. More of an MMO-lite since all of the combat areas are instanced for your party. I've run it on my old laptop, which was a 1.6ghz Pent-M, 512ram and ATI Radeon Xpress 200.
Sid Meier's Pirates is one of my favorite laptop games to play for killing time. You can find it cheap and it has low system requirements. Good when there's zero internet available. Also, Plants VS Zombies on Steam.

The Lord of the Rings Online will run on a netbook, so it should run on your laptop.

When I read craptop and MMO, the only thing that came to my mind was Tibia xD
I don't recommend playing that, once you get the hang of it, you'll become addicted. So please, for your own good, don't even try it. I played Silkroad, very good but loads of bots, don't know how it is now since I played like 2-3 years ago. The only MMO I play now is EVE. You can always try FFXI or Lineage 2.
Someone has actually played Tibia besides me? Lol, I played it 4 years ago when it first came out. It was so much fun and so addicting :D

Guildwars, FREE and a great game.
Eh...just noticed your specs, not sure if it would run well or not.
Not an MMO, but Diablo 2.

I've actually played a lot of Guild Wars and I don't really like it. There's no real community in PvE unless you join an active guild. I'm kind of a fan of meeting people in good PuGs. I don't really like the PvP, either. (For anyone curious, it runs fairly well. It's certainly playable, not ideal.)
I tried LotRO recently and I was unimpressed. For the first 15-20 levels I didn't interact with anyone. I just quest grinded in my own world with no real goal but leveling up to the cap. It just was not unique.
I hope I haven't ruled out the best candidates. :(

Freerealms? Not a bad game, decent for passing time.

I did, got killed 3 times in lvl 12 in a weekend and quit. My lil'bro still plays (lvl 155). We both started 4 years ago. And yeah, it's addicting.

+1 for Diablo 2, those were good times. I guess its more of an action RPG though.

There's always Ragnarok Online. They have free servers, and it's about as low graphical impact as it can get.

WERE good times? Tech9, Rumbl3 and I still play, CGR sometimes too.
Ohh! Diablo 2 night anyone? :D

Maplestory, tons of fun if you get your friends in on it. But it can get repetitive.
But you might like it, and you can run it on your laptop no problem.
